Default Will ICS give 3D the LTE compatibility on Sprint?

I was wondering if ICS will give the EVO 3D compatibility with the new Sprint LTE network.

I looked everywhere and could not find an answer to this question.

    Thank you

Sorry, No. The Sprint EVO 3D only can do WIMAX. It doesn't have the chip to do LTE. If you want to have LTE, you would have to buy another phone.

No it will not the LTE network takes a different chip then Wimax so it will not give LTE compatibility

Actually i heard that this is the exact issue why ics is not out for evo 3d yet. If ypuve never rooted ypur phone there Is a good chance all you need is to reptogram the 3g rafio

And how do you do that?

actually you are probs better off with WiMax than LTE at this point. Sprint is moving towards LTE but it probs won't be until end of fall/ beginning of winter until coverage matches WiMax an not until beginning of 2013 that until the speed/ reach will be better. (all depending on location of course)

LTE is the future, but for now if you live in a WiMax neighborhood, your phone can operate faster than many of the new ones being released. And by the time you should be envious of them, it will likely be close to your upgrade time.

I am in Dallas and it is going to be one of the first cities to have LTE. Right now I am barely getting WiMax in my home but I have heard that LTE will have a stronger signal so I hope for the best.

However I still did not understand what cosmos0001 said above. Is there a trick to make the EVO 3d work on LTE once having ICS installed on it?

    Neither did I

No. (not unless somebody miraculously figures out a way to make hardware changes in the EVO 3D to support that)

That's true - the Sprint phones that have the LTE chip do not have the WIMAX capability (and vice versa).

Wimax and LTE are different hardware technologies irrespective of any software update the hardware cannot update itself.

P.S.: I'm assuming you know the difference between hardware and software already.

Lte is coming through 3g towers. If one has 3g radio...one must be able to crack into lte

The Evo 3D will never be able to connect to LTE. This is a 100% hardware compatibility issue. No amount of hacking will ever make it work. It is impossible. Any information saying otherwise is incorrect. Even if the chip was magically hacked to receive LTE (which it can't be) you still lack the antennae to pick up the LTE signal on the correct frequency.

I have no wimax coverage yet in my area Akron, ohio. I will be waiting until lte is here in Akron, or I have to switch carriers. You that have wimax at least are luckey, I will believe Sprint is getting LTE in Akron when it is avaliable in Akron, no more of this comming soon CRAP!

Actually, no. LTE Towers are new Multi-Mode towers popping up. These towers will support LTE and 3G as well as WiMax where it is already available. Essentially, your phone will pick up the different frequencies depending on coverage. If you are to far from the tower you will be switched to the lowest frequency to improve coverage, but speed will be slower. The closer you are, the highest freq. you will pick including LTE and WiMax or just plain old 3G. Unfortunately, like others have said before me, LTE is a hardware requirement, not a software code. You cannot force it to work on LTE unless you redesign the phone phone itself, internally anyways.

Still, Sprint has to sell all of it's Nextel towers to gain a little revenue to pursue expansion of the new towers. Yes, Nextel is being phased out. At this point, Sprint will produce very few LTE towers at a time to the point, again like other people said, you will probably have better coverage with 3G or WiMax than the new LTE towers.
