Smart Idea

Since the rumors circulating are that there will be no more phones made with 3D, wouldn't it be a smart idea to hold on to your HTC Evo 3D for years to comes? Since this is America's first 3D phone made, dont you think it will be worth a lot of money in the future say 20 or more years from now based on that info alone? Just a thought but I think since it was the first 3D phone ever made, that alone would make it a collectors item years from now. I have 2 of them and one I will keep with the factory settings (no OTA updates) that came with it with when I first bought it and the other with all the updates via OTA and try to keep them in as mint condition as possible.

That's like saying the first place with a color screen will increase in value... Don't know where I'll come up with the money for this collectors item...

There were many more color screens made on devices after that so the point your trying to make seems irrelevant. If you think about it, Americas first 3D phone is what makes it special and if no more phones are made with 3D....well hopefully you get where I'm going with this.

I plan on keeping my EVO3D. Not only as a backup phone for now. But I'm sure there will be some things I would like to get a 3D pic/video of.
You do realize you can connect it to a 3D TV to show in 3D on a big screen. I haven't had the chance to try. I don't know anyone with a 3D TV.

That was my thoughts too PittsPgh. I am upgrading to a 3DHDTV and thought that would be cool to have 3D pics and vids of the family and events. Most of my friends and family already have 3D TVs, so sharing will be good.

Hooking the phone up to a 3DTV or monitor works like a charm.
MHL cable + HDMI cable and I'm playing Eternal Legacy 3D on my PS3 3D monitor.

I'm not a evo 3d user or anything but, if I'm not mistaken, the LG Optimus 3d came out first. Even though e3d is a MUCH better phone & has a duel core processor. The Optimus 3d was Americas first 3d phone. Not to mention that most modern novelties, such as phones, aren't exactly, sentementaly appreciated like the antiques of yester years.

Also the phone is more of a stepping stone into the world of 3d. I know down the road I am going back to apple most likely, so I will probably also step into a better 3d camera. For now though it fits the bill.

The Optimus 3D is the global version. What we got here in the states was the AT&T Thrill 4G.
The EVO 3D came out June of 2011.
The Thrill 4G I believe was released in August of 2011.

Don't get all **** hurt man! Maybe it was AMERICAS first 3d phone. I'm not too worried about splitting that hair. I feel it's mostly trivial! My point does still stand, that it's not very likely that your evo 3d is going to become your next family heirloom. Sure maybe someday your grand kids might think it's retro, even kind of cool. But Imo it's a novelty, a gimmick, a toy, & will be quickly forgotten, like some bad idea that never caught on.

I bought the evo 3D the weekend it came out as I knew I would be getting a 3D TV in the following months. Displaying the vids/pics with a little help from an MHL adapter is awesome. When it is time to upgrade my phone, this will still be my camera/music player... I will never get rid of my first Android!
