I've noticed pretty bad battery life but chalked it up to the fact I'm playing with my phone a lot more than normal, checking out the ics features. I also have a monster battery, and it's working hard for me, there is no doubt.
I had to turn down my display again, after the update it was back up to 100%

Re: ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life
I haven't notice any changes in my battery except it doesn't drain as fast when on standby.

I've also noticed bad battery life but have also been playing with it a lot. We'll see over the next week of so.

Re: ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life
This may sound dumb, but is there normally a "breaking in" for phones that has recently recieved a new software? I can remeber when I first bought the EVO 3d it had horrible battery life but it seems that it has improved over time. Just a thought!

Re: ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life
I actually found my battery to be batter after I updated to ICS. Though I still use the phone A LOT especially with internet on so my battery still doesn't last me too too long, but it's enough.

Re: ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life
YES.
I'll admit I'm rooted and was previously running Newt's OneS ICS rom for a few months.
Yesterday I went back to stock then updated to the official ICS rom.
It's definitely much more stable than Newts, however it burns through the battery so fast it doesn't charge over USB anymore.
Playing one song off Youtube dropped it 25%, and the phone was completely dead in barely an hour.
Practically unusable unless I'm keeping it plugged into a wall.

Re: ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life
Took mine off the charger at 7am and it's at 50% at 7pm. Light usage, but more than normal, since I've been playing with it more because of the update.
Played at least an hour of music on my commute too. I just watched a 5min+ Youtube and it went down a couple percent. - 08-01-2012, 10:07 PM #13

Re: ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life
I too am having terrible battery life. I use an extended battery and could get thru almost two days with medium use before the update. Today with very minimal use my phone was at 3% at 8pm. I did not even make a call with it today.
Hoping it gets better, I'm carrying around a 4lb phone with my extended battery
Better not be for nothing.
I know if I was rooted I could try resetting battery stats but I am completely stockLast edited by imasounder; 08-02-2012 at 02:37 AM.

Re: ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life
Let me give you some back ground, my office building sucks an this is were you go to get little, to no, reception. prior to the update my battery drained abnormally fast due to it trying to find and connect to a weak signal.
With that said, here at work, the draining seems to be about the same if not a little worse. As far as recharging, I have always had an issue with it recharging quick enough via computer USB so mine is always plugged into a wall outlet. And even the wall charging seems to be a little slower.
I think there is something to ICS draining battery quicker. - 08-02-2012, 09:22 AM #16
Funny is I actually think my battery life has improved. Hell I'm thinking of waiting til Christmas before switching phones. Also where before it would take ages for it to charge from 99% to 100% I am happy when I look at my phone and its not always stuck on 99% while charging.

Re: ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life
ICS update was supposed to help with the battery situation. I have a 4000 mah extended battery and I do burn it up, but I think it's because I'm using my phone in a non-normal manner. I'm playing with it a lot more than normal. So I'm not sure it's an issue for me.
For sure check your display and turn that down from 100% (set mine at 50%). If you can be on Wifi do it. Keep your 4G and GPS radios off unless using it, etc. How fast does your phone's display go to "sleep?" Mine is set at 1 min. - 08-02-2012, 11:23 AM #18

Re: ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life
I haven't noticed a difference.
I wonder if there are some apps not playing well with ICS, or if some app or system settings were reset. - 08-02-2012, 01:30 PM #20
Since a lot of people really don't know this I will explain to the best of my ability.
There are 7 main contributing factors to battery life.
1. Apps running in background
2. Screen brightness
3. Auto Sync
4. 3G mobile data
5. 4G mobile data
6. GPS on/off
7. Your usage of the phone.
In any instance you should first and foremost see what apps or hardware functions are using your battery. ( Go to the power settings ) There should be 3 main ones that should never leave (display, OS, and Cell Standby). Everything else is what determines how long you battery last.
Now here's how to get the most out of your battery.
Apps running in the background that you don't use, or need, get rid of them.
Screen brightness should be set to where you're comfortable using your device.
Auto Sync should be turned off if you don't want your device constantly searching while you're not using it.
3G/4G mobile data should be turned on or off at your discretion in tandem with the Auto-Sync feature. (If you're not using data why do you need a radio sucking on battery life?)
GPS can be turned off until you need it in specific apps. (Another radio that sucks power.)
And last but not least, if you're constantly checking your phone, your phone can't sleep (standby mode). Standby uses way less battery than having to be on constantly.
I hope this helps as I have taken two months to study usage and options on this particular phone.
PS, Airplane mode is your friend. It cuts off all radios and that includes Cellular. You can re-enable Wi-Fi in this mode for internet access.

By the sound of everyone in glad it got rid of my 3d last week. I put this in the market but got no response yet. A little over a month ago I bought a brand new extended battery (standard size) for my 3d.last week I traded my 3d in for the lte. I have this awesome brand new battery just sitting here doing nothing. I have that,, a desk top cradle (also practically new) and a casemate " barely there " case. All 3 items are a steal for 50 bucks. I could stream for 7 hours straight on this battery and like I said, it only got used for a month.

Re: ICS and HORRIBLE Battery Life
Mine has been going for 7 hours now off of charge and I'm at 40%. I will now plug it in for the remainder of the evening considering how much use it got while I was out today. I love my E3D and I am so glad to have it.
