the top power button and the 'home' symbol simultaneously. Timing needs to be just right, so practice a few times (I have a case on my phone that makes it harder I think).

The timing isn't hard, just hold the power button for 1 second then push the Home button and you're done. It's really easy and useful, I'm glad they put the feature in without the need of an outside app.
