Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Got mine the day b4 launch... don't ask....
I love the phone, for those who think the 3D is a gimmick, shame on you!! The 3D is pretty amazing!! I can't stop taking pointless pictures of everything, although, I have tried and I can't send the 3D pics, it says unsupported format, so you'll have to enjoy them yourself, (unless I missed something). But for a handheld device it is pretty impressive.
Sense 3.0 - This is a HUGE improvement over the previous version on my OG Evo, I had installed the SPB shell before but I think I'll skip it this time, the new Sense is pretty awesome, the HTC hub also has some pretty cool features and add-ons for sense, but, it needs more input and more content, it's very limited at this point.
The hardware itself is wicked fast and while trying every app and function at the same time couldn't slow it down. Still testing the battery life but in all fairness I've had it on and been using it so much I can't give it a fair assessment yet. I do use Juice defender so I'm sure it does help a lot.
Gripes - The speaker is in a poor location and is not very loud, I think the earpiece is fine for conversations, I've turned mine to about half power or it will blow my ear out, but the speaker on the rear is in a bad spot and isn't loud enough when listening to music or especially movies.
Back cover - kind of a pain to remove, granted you wont take it off very often but if you do you'll be calling it names.....
Wake/sleep button - overly sensitive, definitely not like the OG Evo, I've already pulled it out of my pocket many times to find it turned on....
This is my "quick" review after 2 days with the 3D, overall, I think it's an excellent phone with many many great features and I don't regret trading "up" from my OG Evo

got mine yesterday. my Bf surprised me with it & it is SO SMOOTH!. HTC HUB is so great. i love that you can download 'Sound Sets' and download more 'Skins' instead of the default ones. i upgraded form a Hero & to go from that to an EVO 3D! amazing!
Also taking 3D pictures are fantastic... and beautiful. I love this phone!

I'm thinking about the purchase but would love to hear from some real consumers what their thoughts are..

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Ok This is my 4th Android Phone and the one I love the most. 3D is call and all but after playing with this thing I would have bought it just for how damn smooth it is. My mom just got the EVO 4G and I can say that the 3D is by far a better phone.

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
I loved my OG Evo and I love the Evo 3D even more. Sense 3.0 is the truth. HTC did it's thing. I used the 3D a few times but that's just an added bonus. The phone is nice.

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Here is my 2 cents.
I had high hopes for this EVO.
I think after the last update for the EVO 4G, things got a bit buggy on that phone. I couldnt wait for the 3D model.
As soon as the guy at Best Buy handed it to me, I was a bit disappointed.
I didnt know they were making the screen resolution make the text and the keyboard smaller. It feels like I am holding a HTC Incredible. I have Fred Flintstone fingers, I love the EVO 4G because the size of the keyboard etc.
Now I am hitting the wrong keys.
Other things that bother me are they took away the arrow keys on the keyboard (the ones where you move the cursor).
No flashlight app (WHY?).
The calculator numbers look goofy. At least give us the option to make them look normal. And they still didnt give us a % key on the calculator (no, turning it sideways doesnt have it either).
I am not crazy about the side charger.
On the plus size, I love the reworked HTC Sence. Nice job. There are so many cool features theres too many to list. I love the builtin task killer too!
3D, I could take it or leave it.
For me, I would like to see HTC update the EVO 4G with this version of sence. Then I would be happy.
This new EVO reminds me of the day I got my iPhone 4. I had every version before that, but the 4 was a let down. Thats when I went to Android.
I did check out the EVO View and love that. I wish that could make calls. - 06-25-2011, 09:10 PM #260
Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Huge upgrade from the Pre. Seems significantly faster than the other android phones I've tinkered with.

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Did anyone notice how phone prints now from emails as well as web browser?
I tried using HTCsense.com my phone shows that it's in sync but htcsense.com page is blank, all it shows is lock and erase buttons, I dont see any data there. - 06-25-2011, 09:20 PM #262

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Love the phone. Still trying to get used to the new OS. Anyone know if there is a way to close apps without having to "Kill" them in the task manager?

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Just got my Evo 3D yesterday, switched over from my two year old Palm Pre, and all I can say is I freakin love this phone. Theres nothing else I can add that others already have stated about the phone regarding pros/cons, but this phone is too awesome. Simple as that.

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Interestingly enough, the OP asked about "Initial Thoughts" Forgive me for not feeling gaga over this phone like you do. Just because YOU think its the next best thing doesn't mean all of us do. I could easily say you are being paid for your positive review or don't know what you're talking about but I didn't. Everyone here is entitled to their opinion.
And please for one moment don't let my post count fool you. - 06-26-2011, 02:34 AM #270
Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Bought the Evo 3D and gave it to the misses & decided to keep my CM7 Evo 4G. I just didn't see any good reason to "trade up" (if you can even call it that). Quite frankly, in my opinion, 3D on the Evo 3D just straight out sucks; the phone doesn't seem any faster than my Evo 4G. My 2 cents.

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Sorry, but there is simply not enough money in the world to pay all of us, this freaking phone rocks. Hands down the best available everywhere - period! From build quality, screen, speed, design, OS, intangibles like 3D (which is far more amazing than the most optimistic reviewer admitted), and the list go on and on. I love my EVO4G but as I spend more time, got mine on 6/22, the gap is starting to become more and more apparent. You damned right its an upgrade...and a considerable one too...

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
I too feel the pain of the screen being a bit smaller, the phone feels a lot better though - so its a more than reasonable trade-off for me. A lot of the stuff you mentioned can be fixed with a quick app download such as the calculator and flashlight. The screen size however can not be fixed. Here is the flashlight link to the bottom..it is all the way to the bottom of the hyper-linked thread.

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
The phone is great, nice upgrade from the first EVO. The 3D is a little gimicky in that no easy way to share with people without 3D phone, however checkout 3dporch.com and sign up for free account, that seems to be a compromise solution for now.

Re: Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!
Listening to Phil rave about this phone got me wondering how much better it was then my new Sensation. Went down to my local Sprint store and started fooling around with it, very nice, the home page widget does spin much faster then on the Sensation. Then I started downloading web pages and found out very fast that my new Sensation blew away the Evo 3D, my web pages were downloading twice as fast. The speaker sounded better on the Sensation and as far as the build quality was concerned, well plastic vs unibody, no comparison, the Sensation was far superior. I walked out of Sprint realizing the Sensation IMO was a better device. The 1 gb or ram kept me wondering, I noticed that the extra ram that the Evo 3D had was eaten up by the 3D bloatware that the Evo 3D needed to operate. The Sensation kicked ***. Funny how the listening audience is swayde by one single voice, a voice that carries allot of weight in many people's eyes. Take the Evo out for a ride, check it out, then make your choice. I did and I am very happy I did. After all that I think I will be jumping on the all data plan before Verizon goes the way of AT&T. Ordered the Thunderbolt and hoping for the Gingerbread update on the 30th. I will miss my T-Mobile and the super fast HSPA+ I get. The more I read the more I feel the buy out is going thru and want to get grandfathered on Verizon data plan.

I'd also like to be able to access the camera while locked by simply pressing the hardware button.
