Text Messages Showing Cell Number
When I get a text, it shows the person's name, then in parenthesis their mobile number which is a link. It's really annoying and can't find a way to get rid of it.
The only way I was able to erase it was to delete a contact, then re-enter all the information again, but to do that to all of my contacts it's gonna take forever.
Has anyone else experienced the same problems?

Yes, the same thing happens on my phone. I used MyBackup Pro to bring all my text messages over from my EVO4G. Did you restore your old SMS/MMS messages in some way? I am trying to see if that may have something to do with it.

Was not able to get my old messages with Backup Pro. I no longer have access to the Marketplace on my 3G (even tried connecting via WiFi). Should have done that prior to activating the 3D.
I called Sprint this morning and they told me there's no way I can transfer my old text messages. I also told me about the issue with the number showing up next to the names; it's the first time they heard of it. They told me to delete any duplicate contact names on it, but that didn't work.
I removed the Facebook and Facebook HTC Sense sync and going to link Sense again; maybe having both of them synced somehow messed it up.
Will keep you posted.

I have the same issue but do not use Facebook so I don't think Facebook has anything to do with it.
Also, I am coming from a Pre and did pretty much a fresh start so... - 06-24-2011, 08:05 AM #8

Re: Text Messages Showing Cell Number
The new Sense messaging app looks pretty good, but number link is a deal breaker for me....
I guess it makes sense and can be somewhat useful to show which # of a contact I'm texting but for now, it's back to Go SMS for me. - 06-25-2011, 03:15 PM

Re: Text Messages Showing Cell Number
Just got back from the Sprint store. They basically told me it's a feature on the new Sense 3.0 and there's no option to turn it off. Someone there even had an EVO 4G rooted with Sense 3.0 and he too had the number listed next to the names.
They told me that it didn't bother them at all; I replied that it probably was my OCD then. I also told them that there are a number of people on the boards complaining about it, and if it's a feature, we should have the option to turn it off.

Re: Text Messages Showing Cell Number
Yea I noticed it yesterday too. I use My Back Up and kept all my messages from my EVO 4G.

Re: Text Messages Showing Cell Number
Contacts without a fb account do not have a number link next to their text messages on my phone. I just un-linked a few others who had their number link displayed prior to un-linking and the number link is gone when the original contact and fb are no longer linked together.
Problem solved....except its far from ideal. And after re-reading the thread, I now realize that people without fb are experiencing the same issue. Go figure. - 06-25-2011, 04:11 PM #23
Re: Text Messages Showing Cell Number
Go into settings and general view in message app and disable call history... Works out nicely
