Re: Slight problem with Evo 3d and Slight Lag on Market and some
I'm having the same issue as well. Thanks for the great video, and bringing this to my attention. May I also add that this forum is filled with biased EVO 3d fan. While I do enjoy this phone and have no intentions of returning it, considering this is an exceptional upgrade from my palm pre, I'm known to call a spade a spade. While this device sports a dual core processor and top of the line specs, I find it unacceptable for a mast majority to encounter a problem such as this. And to be quite honest, I believe the others are just afraid to discredit this phone ( which btw I still love and enjoy, it'll take more than a few lags in the app market to sway my positive opinion about this device ) so they tend to look the other way when issues like this arise, pretending its not there. I'm hoping this is an issue that can be fixed, possibly in the near future, with a simple software upgrade. So far HTC has been very prompt with their upragdes on any issues that has arise thus far. I would hate to think I have a defective device, and have to exchange it, I've already customized this one and have grown accustomed to it. I won't be loosing much sleep over it, and neither should you.

Re: Slight problem with Evo 3d and Slight Lag on Market and some
I feel that way as well. I would like to see one of the people saying that their phone is 100% smooth post a video of the homescreen and market scrolling, so we can be certain that some phones are not performing as well as others. I'm sure it will eventually be corrected, especially once the android OS gets updated to allow us to use both cores, but until them I'm happy with it despite the flaws.

Re: Slight problem with Evo 3d and Slight Lag on Market and some
I'm going to take a stab and say that has something to do with how the Nexus is pre caching the data (the app list) for the market or any other list vs. how the evo 3d is doing it. It seems to be loading and caching on the fly more as the list scrolls up/down. I would prefer it to work like it does on the nexus s 4g but alas I believe it has something to do with the loading. With the hardware our E3D's are sporting it should not be an issue. I don't know if this is a sense thing since that nexus is running vanilla android.
Edit: I also want to add something else....You know different manufacturers handle drivers differently as well. For example if the driver's are a bit buggy or if HTC needs to update them in a firmware release then it's very possible that could be the cause of this as well. I can tell you for 100% certain when it comes to PC's if you run one GPU driver (Nvidia or AMD) vs installing a different set you can sometimes get wildy varrying results in performance across the board. Not to mention overall feel and smoothness in not just games but also in a 2d desktop environment. Remember tech wise and growing pains wise we are were we were with PC tech approx 7 or 8 years ago maybe a little less. Point is this hardware is moving at a very rapid pace and there are bound to be growing pains along the way. Maybe what we need is a nice firmware update from HTC...just throwing that out there.Last edited by Savoy; 06-26-2011 at 12:45 PM.

Re: Slight problem with Evo 3d and Slight Lag on Market and some
I'm not having any homescreen lag whatsoever. Just thought it would be fun to watch that video and do the same experiment on my device as well. The results were consistent to what the video depicts and also to what the OP was stating.

Re: Slight problem with Evo 3d and Slight Lag on Market and some
Guys just poking my head in here. I have a suggestion. In cases like these a comparison video is in order. Meaning somebody that is experiencing no lag in the market, FB etc etc while scrolling should post up a video.
That way there is visual evidence that there are some units that are and are not experiencing any lag.
Just a thought. The videos really do help. - 06-26-2011, 01:49 PM #19

Re: Slight problem with Evo 3d and Slight Lag on Market and some
I really hope this gets fixed before my 30 days are up. Regardless if its tegra qualcomm or whichever this shouldn't happen. I want to love the e3d but I may end up just waiting for the gs2 if it doesn't get resolved.

Re: Slight problem with Evo 3d and Slight Lag on Market and some
What kind of scores are you guys getting in quadrant. In the reviews I saw benchmarks of 2600+. I'm getting 1500-1900 without a live wallpaper, after using a task manager to clear out memory, and a reboot. It is almost like one the cores is dead, but I'm sure the phone wouldn't work at all if that was the case. I don't want to do a full reset because I just got everything set back up again.

Re: Slight problem with Evo 3d and Slight Lag on Market and some
Not only am I having a lag in the Market and FB but when I type a long email or text message the keyboard slows down to a crawl. Letters take a couple of presses to input. Never had this problem with the EVO 4G despite having 1/2 the ram and memory of the 3D. I've been going back and forth with HTC about this and they informed me that they can't guarantee a fix before my 30 day return window. Unbelievable. The lag started 2 days ago and is irritating as hell. It doing it now

Re: Slight problem with Evo 3d and Slight Lag on Market and some
Talked to HTC (North America) and he said that this is the first he's heard of a the lag problem. He told me posting on forums is one thing but people need to call HTC so that they can keep a tab on issues to address. He gave me the usual (clearing all data, hard reset, etc,) all of which I already tried without success. I have to use FlexT9 to input because the lag is so pronounced on HTC and Smartkeyboard Pro. The scary thing is it's getting worse. So all those affected with this lag, make sure to call HTC asap. Open 6a to 1a everyday.
