Podcatching app that starts on reboot
Hey guys, I'm an android newb, so perhaps you can help me out.
I'l looking for an app to automatically download podcasts when new episodes are available. I've tried beyondpod, doggcatcher, google listen, hapi podcast, etc. All seem to have an option to check for new episodes on an interval, and download when available. The problem is that not one of these apps seem to function automatically if I have to reboot the device. If I reboot, the app or background service doesn't start on its own until I physicall launch the app again. After that everything works in the background as it should, unless I have to reboot the device again for whatever reason (firmware update, etc.)
Is there something I'm missing, or is this just how Android works? I downloaded an app that keeps vibrating the device on intervals if you have a missed SMS, call, etc. and that works fine after reboots. I don't have to reopen the app to get it to work again.
Does anyone know if this is some sort of limitation of these apps, or is there something I'm completely missing? Like I said, all of the podcasting apps I've tried work fine after I open them and close them, but they don't seem to do anything automatically if I don't do that first. Any help is appreciated.
**Note that I have tasker and have been currently automating it that way, but I still have to click back out of the apps manually after the device reboots to get them to close, but stay running. Once Root is available I should be able to automate the back button as well, which will solve that problem, but it would still be nice to know why I can't find a single podcast downloader that actually downloads stuff automatically without needing me to open the app first.
