Charging port location

Did they really duplicate the Thunderbolt design flaw of placing the charging port opposite the kickstand thus not allowing it to sit on the kickstand and be charging at the same time?

In the video they talk about how the new kickstand can be used to hold the phone up in either side, so it won't be an issue.

Looks more like one side when horizontal and one when vertical.
Looking at other pics it doesnt look like the kickstand comes out both ways, just one way.

It only comes out one way but it can hold the phone up either direction. Must be a fairly heavy spring to do that.

Thanks for the video link -- I now understand how the kickstand works in either direction. My only concern is that when using in the direction of having the charging port on top the weight of the charging cable will overcome the strength of the spring.

I hope Phil is testing that out as I type! Phil?

He just tweeted that he's at a bar, getting drunk and looking for a fight and possibly some purses to snatch. I doubt he's checking the charging port out, although I too hope he is.

By the way, I'm not sure about the fight thing or the purse snatching, but he is at a bar.
