Yes, you can. Go under SETTINGS (found on the task bar), then MOBILE NETWORK settings, then NETWORK MODE and select CDMA only instead of LTE/CDMA.

Sorry guys, I'm not gonna go through this entire forum to see if someone posted this. While in your messaging app you can pinch to zoom and change the font size. Just a little perk in Sense 4, I haven't found any other way to do that other then the settings of course.

If it's asking for a time zone you might have turned off the setting that that grabs the time automatically from the network... Or that 4G tower might still be experimental and it's throwing the phone off.

No 4G towers here (Detroit and Delaware so far), but my EVO LTE keeps asking for a time zone set. My Date & Time setting is set to use network-provided time zone...

I also use Astro File Manager. However, ICS makes it kind of difficult since you have to access "sdcard2" instead of what we are all used to. Select the up arrow twice until you are in the / folder. Then select the sdcard2 folder and you should see your traditional file hierarchy.

Some apps may require you to load OI File Manager to use files on sdcard2.

    HELLLLLLPPPPP!

I upgraded my original Evo 4g yesterday for the 4G LTE. Was happy until I tried to download music from a free mp3 music download app IN the google play app store.

With the original 4g, I was able to download direct from app into music file on phone.

With the 4g LTE, I have discovered that i cannot download music from the same app. I can only share with others, or just play the music....but I CAN'T DOWNLOAD INTO MY MUSIC FILE. I have searched all over trying to find resolution to this, or a way to bypass Sprint Music, Pandora, Iphone, Rhapsody, etc. etc. I even had someone try and bluetooth a song to me and it took me to Amazon apps to buy the song.

ANYONE out there experiencing the same thing....or can assist with explaining if HTC is blocking all music apps besides certain approved one????

    Thank you!!

    How is the GPS reception?

I had the original Evo 4G and it locked onto and held the GPS signal very well. It was always reliable and I could depend on it wherever I had to go.

Now I'm using the Galaxy S II and its GPS reception is simply horrible. It seldom locks on and when it does, it loses the signal. It has proven to be extremely unreliable and I cannot depend on it at all.

How does the new Evo LTE measure up in terms of GPS signal reception compared to the original HTC Evo 4G? If it's as good or better, I'll be getting one soon. I already know it's got to be better than what I have now...heck, my carrier pidgeon is more reliable in finding directions than my Galaxy..

What are your camera settings? I find that when I take pics the people in the pics seem a bit brighter than they actually are, although pics are real crisp.

How do i add contacts to my home screen by name? I see people but i want a shortcut for my wife & kids. I could do that on my Shift. If i want to delete a shortcut on the home screen if i drag the shortcut down to the bottom it adds it to a folder. I want to delete a shortcut on the home menu. Last question. I set the display to go off after 30 sec. when i had issues with the battery running down. Now how do i end a call if the screen goes off? I thought i could touch the screen & it would come back on. It didn't. Thanks, Tom

Question - on the ORIG EVO (which I have), when you were in a very loud environment, such as a concert or nightclub, the sound would become so distorted it was unuseable. HOWEVER, friends who had an iPhone, had GREAT SOUND that was clear as a bell. Does the NEW EVO 4G LTE still have this issue or is the MIC quality and AGC (automatic gain control) improved? Does anyone have a sample of this?

    Thanks .....

Press your finger on the blank space where you want your shortcut and it pulls up the widget screen with an "Apps" and "Shortcuts" tab at the bottom. Not sure on your second issue, press the phone icon to end the call or if the call is still active, pull down the notifications bar and you can end it there by pushing the red phone icon (you can pull the bar down from the lock screen in ICS).

I forgot to add that once you select the "shortcuts" tab, then select "Direct Dial"

Re: I've got the EVO - ask me anything!

    OK, Phil...here's my question!

Is the GPS reception at least as good as that of the original Evo 4G?

I've been stuck with the Galaxy S II and that POS (when it comes to GPS issues) is so unreliable that I cannot depend on it at all to provide timely instructions when on the go and need to get somewhere using Google Nav or TeleNav or even my basic Google Maps app. It simply cannot lock onto and hold a GPS signal. After I bought the thing, I discovered that the poor reception is a known issue with Samsung, or so I read.

If the HTC Evo LTE is as good as or (hopefully) better than the original, I will go down and buy it soon.

    1) on the Gmail app when trying to copy text you used to be able to just click on the highlighted text to copy it to clipboard, now you have to go down to the bottom left and click on the icon to do it. This is only on the Gmail app.

    2) The menu button will be sorely missed. Now the menu for each app appears, depending on the app, on a different part of the screen, as opposed to having it always on the same spot.
The "Recent Apps" button is UTTERLY USELESS! With the original Evo, you used to be able to press and hold the home button and see the most recent 8 apps without having to scroll at all!! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? (WERE THEY THINKING?!?!)

    3) The text app, and for that matter Handcent and GoSMS DO NOT show the count for the unread messages, neither on the icon, nor on the notification bar, UNLESS you actually scroll down the notifications, then you can see how many unread messages you have.

    4) Gmail app used to be awesome with the original Evo. Not only did it show the total unread messages you had but also, if you marked a message as unread (even a very old message), whether you did it from the phone or even from the computer, you would get a notification as if you just got a new message! Where's that?!?!

    5) Sync seems to be having its own issues as well. On the regular email app, if I set it up to sync email every 5 minutes, it takes rather about 10-15 mins for the emails to come in. Original Evo was prompt at that...

    6) on the regular email app in order to be able to go to the next or previous email, one has to first click on menu and only then do you have the "next" or "previous" option, unlike on the original Evo.

    7) When already on max volume and want to make sure you still are with the volume rocker, you would hear a sound with the old Evo, now you got nothing are have to actually LOOK at the screen to make sure you got it to the max.

8 ) No option to play YouTube videos out of the YouTube app when clicking on a YouTube video on the browser.
That was a given with the original Evo. Annoying as hell on the LTE.

    9) You MUST use both hands when holding the phone vertically if you want to have access to the whole screen (if you're laying down or sitting back on a sofa, for example), otherwise you will be unwillingly hitting the volume rocker or needing a chiropractor for your thumb. An issue which could be avoided with a gel cover, but could have been foreseen by HTC when producing such a smooth non-grippy back to the phone.

    10) Gmail and Tasks are incompatible?! I mean, what's the point??

    11) The regular email app can only be accessed a limited amount of times per 15 minutes? I already got quite a few of those error messages...

    12) On the original Evo, whenever long-clicking on a typing field, you would get the "input method" option to change the keyboard etc., now on the Evo 4g LTE this feature is only available by going to settings.

This isn't a cellphone war between the 4G and the LTE, obviously the LTE has lots of stuff over the original Evo. I'm not here to bash the LTE, on the contrary I would love to find solutions to all (or most) of those issues.
For the time being if I have to sum it up:
I love the speed and I LOVE the battery life but, in terms of practicality, I would stick with the original Evo.

P.S. I would rather not root my phone, and would like those problems to go away, help!

    Gimme your thoughts!

    Question Evo V 4G vs. 4G LTE

    Hi Phil,
I'm considering the virgin mobile evo v 4g but don't see reviews for that - how different, if at all is it from evo 4g lte?
    thanks!
