Re: EVO LTE reviews
Kind of like the "the verge" website upon first visit, and really believed there review until they started degrading the battery life.... When it is oviously the same phone as the one x. That kind of made me not take them serious, but then again it is a review, which at the end of the day is there opinion.....
Kind of tired of "this phone wil be beast when sprint gets there network together" o_0 -- #whack - 05-11-2012, 11:01 AM #27
Re: EVO LTE reviews
Verge didn't really hate on the phone....they gave it an 8.4 lol but you DO have to mention the fact you can't access the network yet....it would be shoddy reporting if not. I don't agree with Engadget not recommending it until its up....but it is a bit different now rather than before because Verizon and AT&T both have a robust LTE network up already.
I agree on the battery front for sure...if you still need to run the proper battery tests then you should not be putting up your final review yet. - 05-11-2012, 11:07 AM #28
Re: EVO LTE reviews
Like lets take the battery part:
Did he even get a chance to full discharge the battery and recharge it before getting on a plane from New Orleans? The One X has great battery life, so the fact that the Evo has an even larger 2,000mAh battery than its sibling (and no LTE to worry about) gave me great hope for its longevity. Unfortunately, I found that even getting a full day from the Evo took some finesse. Consider: I unplugged the phone at 4:15am, used it a bit on the way to the airport, turned it off on the plane until about 9, then streamed music through Rdio for about 40 minutes and did some browsing and tweeting from the device, with brightness at about 40 percent. By noon, I was down to 25 percent battery. We're running our official test now for more comparable results, but though in practice you should be able to get a full day's use from the phone with some battery TLC (and a lower brightness setting), I'm still a little underwhelmed with its performance.
Its a shoddy battery judgement IMO....you simply shouldn't review battery life in such a short time. - 05-11-2012, 11:12 AM

Decent review from the verge. I don't know why he compares the camera to dedicated cameras tho. He should be comparing it to other cellphones.

Re: EVO LTE reviews
Also to add...the reviewer responded to my questioning of the battery....figured i'd share with you guys:

I'm hoping it was just a software/connectivity issue. I have excellent service where i live and work...but we'll see as more reviews come out: - 05-11-2012, 11:35 AM #31
My review...
To those awaiting Sprint to send yet another exciting but informationless email,

Didn't check on the status yet, expecting it to say that "They will try to get it to me before others get their hands on it". Haha

Re: EVO LTE reviews
I don't get these reviews regarding the camera on the phone. Engadget claims the camera is great and the verge says the camera is mediocre. Most of the ATT One X reviews about the camera have been positive. Why are some reviewers impressed and others say it isn't any special. weird...

Re: EVO LTE reviews
I have been with Sprint for a long time mainly because of my awesome SERO plan. I've had the Mogul, Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2, and now I currently have the HTC Arrive. I love windows phone 7. It is sooo smooth and fast after the atrocity that was windows mobile 6.5. The only major problem I have with WP7 are the apps. Very limited compared to Android/Iphone. I was seriously consider waiting for windows phone 8 but this evo 4g lte sounds so awesome. I pre-ordered via sprint on the first day. I just hope I made the right choice.

Re: EVO LTE reviews
If anything, what worries me is his benchmarks were way low. I think he just wasn't running the test in optimal conditions. Kinda weird, not really a big deal though.
The battery has to be some sort of software/connectivity issue. It's got the same internals with a bigger battery. The only difference is network. Additionally, it may just a software quirk that will be ironed out with an update. I'll wait for Phil's review or the updated engadget/AnandTech for a real battery opinion. I might have it in my hands by then though

Re: EVO LTE reviews
yeah, i don't pay too much attention to beachmark, usually i just skip over them. he also said the phone is running on 4.04 which is wrong, it's on 4.03. really making me lose some confidense in his review. yeah, like the one x, it has some battery issue at first too, htc came out w/ an update for it pretty soon after, hopefully, it's the same case here.

Re: EVO LTE reviews
That was the HTC One X international version.
Only one review thus far had a negative opinion on battery. I'm thinking its a fluke issue. Will wait for further reviews though. - 05-11-2012, 02:11 PM #49
Re: EVO LTE reviews
That's why we love you Phil. I read all the other reviews out of interest and maybe find a nugget or two but I find the AC reviews much more informative and written in plain english.I guess they just want to be first.I imagine its from the pressure of us phone nerds banging on the doors yelling"tell us more"!!! and if you say something we don't like we then accuse you of being a puppy molester or worse, a fanboy. Sometimes when I read all the different reviews,I wonder if its the same phone they are reviewing. It gets ridiculous sometimes.Excuse my inarticulate rant,I don't write for a living like Phil nor have a cool beard like Jerry. But,working for a ATT contractor I will get the fun of showing all the ATT techs my cool Sprint Evo 4 LTE.

Re: EVO LTE reviews
Welp, all the reviews are saying it's the best phone on Sprints network. Meh. Every Sprint stan is calling it the One X killer and stuff but no review is saying that.
The Verge says the battery is worse? WTF, lol. Oh Sprint, still searching for a service that's not implemented or CDMA is just drain heavy?thekillermeteor.wordpress.com
