Has anyone found a setting or an app that will disable the pull ring to unlock, but will still let you use a pattern lock?

This gets rid of the ring but I don't know if the pattern part remains

Yeah, I tried that one. It removes both the ring and the pattern.

Yeah, this is one of my biggest complaints about HTC phones. I get that it has a super cool lock screen, but when you try to use it with pattern security, it really really sucks. It is amazing this still hasn't been fixed yet.

Widget locker lock screen app from play store. Paid app but it gives great customization options and you can add widgets to the lock screen like pandora, play music etc. I used it until I was able to have the HTC ring lock screen. I love it.

Hmm, didn't know that! You mean lockscreen music controls? Maybe try Widgetlocker but it's a paid app.
