Was at the Sprint store in South Plainfield, NJ today and they told me they have not received any and that nobody pre-ordered. They also said that their store rep said that pre-orders were to be taken care of first and that stores will not be getting the phone until the end of June. END OF JUNE???? I really don't know what to think anymore. I had my upgrade day pushed from June 1 to May 18 with a promise that I could order the phone that day. Well no need to get in to the rest because we all know the story. I really hope we just find out something concrete soon. People that want this phone are waiting for this phone and are not going to start buying an alternative just because it wasn't announced yet. No, I don't want the galaxy nexus, no I don't want the iToy. Just tell us something.

yea they had no clue when I went in to pick up a few car docks today. The employee that thumbed through mine was told flat out they wouldn't be avail to them until late Aug . this is an aggressive store that normally has lines for launches and they are normally updated on the inside of things coming but they are in the dark .

To anyone who is still waiting, remember this. They currently have no clue. There at the will of htc right now and all they can do is string us along.

Dont take any date as gospel yet. You all know everyone will post it up soon as there is something concrete.

At least Sprint won't have to stock so many if they wait that long. People will have decided to pass and get the GS3. I can't believe how poorly this launch has gone.

I seriously doubt that. HTC won't want to share or compete with the SIII's release date. It's rumored to come out mid-summer. Shoot they wait too long and the iPhone 5 will be coming out.

When I picked up mine at BB I was told that the date in their system for sales to walk-in customers was June 24th. It could be that they are waiting for more from HTC. I don't think there is any customs issues because if there were any they would not have been sold without first having a solution in place on the phones before they were released. The first shipment(s) probably got here and when customs halted the release HTC may have stopped shipping until everything got sorted out. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I findt it odd that if they were going to do a full release on May 18th (meaning fill pre-orders and in store walk-ins) that there is a shortage EVOLTE stock! The rational person would think that they would have enough phones to:

• Fill all online pre-orders.
• Fill all Sprint Store and third party store pre-orders.
• Have stock for walk-in sales.

All this for their May 18th deadline. So I find it very hard to believe that a date would be so far out. Either there is a patent problem like NastyNeil asked or someone @htc messed up somewhere.

i think the something that is up is that more and more people pre-ordered as the fiasco went on, that is until sprint shut down pre-orders. but then people were still able to pre-order from many 3rd party sellers. i think they blew through their entire stock that they initially made. now they have to wait to make more. its not like every one that comes off the assembly line they put in the mail. im sure they wait until they have huge amounts made before they ship. so now they have to wait until a large gross of 2nd run phones can be made in order to stock the stores. this really isnt anything new. there have been other phones that were impossible to get when it came out unless you pre-ordered.

You do if you don't have enough stock. Otherwise it becomes another nightmare added to the whole pre-release nightmare. Not a good way to make happy customers.

I am not sure that is a fair assessment. The HTC Evo LTE fiasco was really quite unusual and unpredictable.

I not saying Sprint is the one responsible. I do believe that Sprint is playing it safe but I think its because they don't have enough info not to. HTC could possibly have come up short on estimating an original amount and so didn't ship enough phones. All in all my hats off to how they handled themselves in this very unfortunate situation.

Sprint is the main sponsor of the NBA Playoffs half time show and last night during game 1 of the western conference finals they had Barkley feature the EVO LTE (granted, Ernie Johnson kept calling it the EVO Lite), but maybe this is a sign they are ready to go.
