Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems
Hey Guys,
I was wondering if anyone who has the Invisible Shield HD installed is having the same issues as me. I had mine installed at best buy and the rep did it perfectly to where all the seems matched up, so I really had no complaints at the moment.
Upon using my phone after it was installed though I realized the proximity sensor wasn't functioning at all anymore, and when I looked at how the screen protector was set up, there is a notch for one light (which isn't listed in the user guide) but right next to it is where the proximity sensor is and it's completely covered by the screen protector.
So I was wondering if anyone else had this same issue and if they've been able to fix it by a means other than taking a razor blade to my phone... - 05-28-2012, 12:10 PM #2

Re: Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems
I have been having the same exact problem! I got a pack of the HTC ones that the sprint store had so I could get the 20% off. Has anyone tried those? I had the HTC ones on my 3D and they seemed to scratch up pretty quickly.

Same issue here, and I've been wondering if it's the Zagg screen protector causing it. I've looked though and didn't see any other sensor that seemed to be covered - where are you seeing an additional one other than the notch?

Re: Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems
Also just an update. I took a razor blade to it this morning and basically extended our maybe 2cm from the notch and now the proximity sensor is functioning fine. So I can safely say that the Zagg protector was causing the problem.

Re: Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems
Did you cut the shield with it on the phone...with a razor blade????????????????
I have emailed ZAGG and asked what they plan to do about the issue. - 05-29-2012, 10:53 AM #13

Re: Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems
Just got off the phone with Zagg. The rep told me that the screen protector was causing the problem. If you have bought the Zagg HD screen protector you need to call Zagg and report the problem. They don't actually get the phone when they design the screen protector. They just go by the pictures sprint releases. If enough people report it they will redesign the product and you will receive one for free.

Re: Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems
Yes...was a truly scary experience, but it all worked out in the end with no scratches on the phone.
It was definitely the screen protector causing the issue as it's been working fine ever since I put it under the knife. Also I notified them of the issue yesterday, so hopefully enough people have told them about it that they'll just extend the notch cut to be about 3cm wide.Last edited by lastphoenixash; 05-29-2012 at 01:04 PM.

Re: Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems
Message to Everyone with a EVO 4G LTE: There have been 2 primary issues relating to the proximity sensor. The 1st and most common is the fact that the ZAGG InvisibleShield is not cut out properly (top left cutout is not wide enough). Now the 2nd issue i have found after finding a few with a hardware defect directly relating to the proximity sensor itself. This is usually solved by swapping the device out. Others have seen some issues with the corner of the screen being raised (again hardware defect). This is similar to the original EVO 4G release where some phones had rising screens on the bottom along with heavy light bleeding. Now I can almost gurantee there are other issues as well but this is what I have found so far in within the small community of EVO 4G LTE owners with proximity issues.
ZAGG is also aware of this issue at hand and will be modifying the new cutout within the next week or so. Date obviously is not specified when.Last edited by powerbird101; 05-30-2012 at 04:24 AM. Reason: ZAGG update.

Re: Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems
I too was experiencing the same issue with the proximity sensor. I just returned the HD Zagg to Best Buy Mobile, and sure enough the issue is resolved. So in my case, it definitely was the Zagg. It's a shame too because the new HD version is definitely an improvement on the original, and I had a perfect installation. I'll definitely buy it again if they fix this issue.

Re: Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems
I emailed Zagg, will they send out the corrected cover? It's been 2 weeks since someone said Zagg was aware of the issue. Any idea how much longer we have to wait?
I did call HTC about the screen going blank. They said i could return it under warranty & they'd repair it. Apparently the tech spt. person & their supervisor were unaware of the issues. I hope it's the Zagg protector & not the phone. - 06-16-2012, 06:22 PM #24
Re: Zagg Invisible Shield HD & Proximity Sensor Problems
I have the non HD invisbile shield that I installed myself and am having no issues with it.

I had an HD Zagg installed yesterday at Best Buy on my replacement phone and have no issues. The shield does have some room to move around and I'm wondering if your shields were just to close to the sensor. Like I said, no issues whatsoever here. Love the shield too...feels naked!!!
