Proximity sensor glowing RED?

I recently put a Zagg Shield on the LTEvo. It ended up covering the tiny proximity sensor, next to the like light sensor. Two things started to happen:

1. The screen would turn off before I put it to my ear (or the screen would not turn on when I pulled away from my ear)
2. The proximity sensor would glow red when I was on a call

I cut a piece of the screen protector off to leave the proximity sensor exposed, however I am still seeing the same issues.

Can the proximity sensor be reset or calibrated?

Is the red glow normal?

If someone can share some info that would be great!

I have removed the Zagg Sheild and the sensor is still having issues in dark areas. When I am in the car at night, or in my room with the lights off, the proximity sensor does not function properly and it still glows red. Is this normal for people, or should i exchange my handset?

I cut out part of my protector as well and it then started working fine. Not sure why it wouldn't be the same for you.

There might be a bit more info for you here including the diagnostic test you can try in the first post.

can you post a pic of the proximity sensor glowing red? that sounds crazy and abnormal to me. maybe swap it out for a new one...

I am now noticing my proximity sensor glowing red too... Can someone confirm this as abnormal? I want to return my phone if this is a defect.

Just to add, I have no screen protector and it seems to function at the moment.... I just don't want to take any chances that it will fail soon.

Oh and just to add, it only glows red when I am on a call.

That's how it is supposed to work as far as I know.

Yeah, I thought it might be normal, but I just seemed to notice it for the first time today. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one seeing it.

I've noticed it "glowing" too, but only when light is shining into it.

In my case, the sensor is producing red light. It is highly visable in dark rooms.

Does sensor work properly in dark areas?? This issue is getting to be annoying.

I had this problem. Went to the link above, ran a test and it works now(though I think the response time could be faster

Guys it normal it only happens on calls. Its just activating th light to say it on when u place phone to ur face screen turns off when u pull it awayit turns off. Soon after you hang up the light will turn offeasy as that.
