Default Anyone have their phone overheat?

Had it happen today I was listening to music and had phone it in my pocket I guess my body naturally felt increased heat on my leg and when I stuck my hand in I was shocked at how hot it had become, I immediately closed any apps and stopped the music then figured I should just shut it off I did it and it cooled off after a while and I loaded up my music again stuck it back in my pocket and for the next hour+ I had no issues(or any since) wondering if anyone else has had that happen?

I don't mean warm btw it was very hot for a phone never felt any that hot before. Now that I think of it the phone does tend to heat up a good amount when I play swords and soldiers as well but nowhere near as hot as it got today.

random fluke? Heating issue?(I stopped using my case 2 days ago)

The body of the phone is billet aluminum....aluminum is a very good heat sink.

Happened to me today too, and just like you I closed everything and it cooled down pretty quick. Since it was just a one time deal (so far) I'm not going to worry about it.

I would like to know how you knew it "overheated"? Sure it was hot, but was most likely still within specs. Did you see a message?

If the phone was truly overheated it would most likely give you a message before it got to that point and would most likely shut down on its own.

I'd suggest installing an app like "Phone Tester" that can give you the temperature of the battery so you at least can answer the question "how hot was it?"

I had it happen to me when I used Navigation and Tune-in Radio streaming bluetooth to the radio... Notification LED started flashing red, then when I went to touch the phone, was extremly hot. I turned everything off, on it, and put it in front of the A/C vent... Cooled down real quick. Hasn't happened since.

Can't speak for the OP but the phone will warn you when it's overheating.

I had it happen when I first logged into the Play store and the phone started downloading the 100+ apps. After a half hour or so of straight downloading over 3G while charging the battery temperature was up near 120F and the red LED was flashing and there was a temp warning in the notification.

I took it off the charger and stuck the phone in the fridge for a few minutes and it was fine.

That's good to know, I thought it would warn you. I didn't see that in the OP's post either that's why I was asking.

I've never had an HTC Android phone, but I've had this problem with every HTC WinMo phone I've had. Charging and doing navigation will get the phone really hot. I've had to put the phone on the AC to keep it cool. It wasn't until I saw this thread that I realized that it hasn't happened to me with the Epic and my current Photon; I can charge and navigate for quite some time and the phone stays cool. It only gets hot when I charge, navigate, and have 4G on.

There was no warning message that I noticed I closed apps then shut down phone asap. I've had the phone warm up slightly which happens when you play certain games on just about any phone. This far exceeded anything I've ever felt on a phone the entire phone was hot.

Ill DL the app play S&S for an hour or so and see how hot it gets so I can gauge the heat better.

Alright so when my phone is fully cooled down its at 21C After playing S&S its at 39C and you can feel the heat on certain parts of the phone. When I said it overheated you could feel the entire phone was hot(front&back), and it felt about twice as hot as 39C does. Now I don't know if thats a true overheat? But it has to be close because damn that was hot.

What is the max heat the phone can reach without being damaged?

Haven't given it a good GPS run but the phone runs surprisingly cool for extended use non gaming related.

Yeah no issues at all when I use GPS I still don't even get why it heated up so badly because ive had it since the 25th and played plenty of games websurfing watch videos and then all of a sudden I was listening to music for the first time with some other apps in the backround(recently used still use up memory) and all of a sudden the phone turned to a mini furnace.

I have had the new HTC EVO 4G LTE- it heats up like a fire. Especially whenyou use the camera orpanodra. I was told by Sprint Tech service to be s ure and take it back within 14 days as a phone that over heats is not a good sign. I havent event had my phone a full 10 days before this issue started

I've used this phone in situations where I would expect the phone to get warm (games, videos, etc) and it has not.

The only time my phone was hot when I did not expect it to be was one morning when I picked it up off my desk after charging it all night. It was very warm so I checked running processes to see what was using the cpu so much. Nothing that I could tell, I dont know why it was running so hot, I rebooted it, stuck it in my pocket and went to work. After rebooting the warm problem went away. I havent had that happen again.
