Who is using a 5 GHz WiFi AP?
I have been using my 2.4GHz SSID and I noticed a lot of data dropouts. By that what I mean is that I'm sitting next to the router with full bars and my data connection would just seem to drop and the only way to get it back would be to turn off WiFi and then back on. I decided to try my 5 GHz SSID and so far I haven't had any connectivity problems.
Just trying to get a sense of how many others have been connecting on 5GHz and if they have had any problems. - 06-07-2012, 12:23 AM #2

Re: Who is using a 5 GHz WiFi AP?
If there are a lot of WiFi hotspots on the same channel the devices are dropping and reconnecting. That's an issue that has been addressed in other topics.
Also Bluetooth and WiFi are not playing well together. - 06-07-2012, 10:16 AM #7
Re: Who is using a 5 GHz WiFi AP?
I thought I saw the other way.. my 5 GHz was showing only one dot on teh wireless strength bar and getting totally stuck, then I shifted to 2.4 GHz (I have the new Asus dual band router) and saw consistent 4-5 bands..
This is the repalcement one, earlier phone had 0 issues with WiFi.. I will find mor in next 2-3 days. - 06-07-2012, 10:18 AM #8
Same here. 5 sucked for me but 2.4 is flawless.

5GHz has better thru put but has less coverage.
2.4 has better coverage but less thruput.
So if your 30 feet away from your router the lower frequency will go farther on the same amount of power.DropBox lets you sync files across Android, iOS, and Desktop Computers. Sign up for free, install, get me and you extra space! DropBox

Hmm... its seems like there really isn't any correlation then as it seems there are mixed results. IAmSixNine is probably right and its more interference related. Although I still think there is more to the story than just that since my 3D would stay connected all day under the same conditions/router.

I was referring to the HTC ONE X update that recently went out. Last I checked many were saying the update helped with their WiFi issues.
