The specs on the front camera all say 1.3 meg but in the stock camera app, it is only showing 1.0meg and no option to increase it.

On the other hand. using Pro Capture (the old Camera Advance) it does show the front as 1.3.

Took a couple of front camera shots and with the stock its shows the photo is 720x1280

With Pro Capture it shows as 1270x960.

Thoughts?

Hmmm, is there a big difference in picture quality as well? I mean to the naked eye?

I wish the pics looked better with the front camera. I'm not very happy with any of the pics I take with it. However the rear camera is awesome. Well, IMHO anyways.

Yes there is a noticible difference. Not huge but you can tell when you look at them back to back.

Chances are it is a 1.3 MP camera, but that it's automatically trimmed to match the native screen resolution of 1280x720 when you capture an image.

Its a pretty simple explanation. If you camera is set to widescreen then it will give you 1280x720 but if you simply uncheck widescreen then the picture will be the standard ratio of 4x3 which will then give you resolution of 1280x960.

Played with that and didnt catch the change because widescreen or normal, it still shows front cam a 1meg BUT (and i had not caught this) going from widescreen does give the 1280x960 resolution, so its odd that the camera app still shows only 1.0 meg.

And, FWIW, regardless of setting, the Pro capture front photos still look better.
