Switching to Open Wifi issue
On my old EVO, there was an option in settings along the lines of "automatically connect to open wifi" or something along those lines, that I left unchecked. There doesn't appear to be anything like that on E4GLTE (how about we just call it the EAGLET?).
What keeps happening is that I come across an open network and lose my 3G..now this wouldn't be a problem if it was genuinely an open unsecured network, but it's usually something like an Optimum WIFI hot spot, where you would have to sign in with a password once you open a browser to actually get data. So while in theory you are connected, in reality, you are not, i.e. no autosync, mail, updates, new notifications etc, and usually you don't even realize it unless you look at your phone and see the wifi icon is there instead of 3G.
Anyone have a work around short of manually shutting my wifi whenever I leave one of my regular wifi areas? (ie, my house, my office, my sister's house, my kid's school, my friend's house etc etc?)

Re: Switching to Open Wifi issue
If I am understanding you correctly, a simple WiFi widget would work ... Found in your HTC Widgets.

There's an app called tasker, haven't used it myself and it is a lil pricey. But, anyways, within tasker u can automate certain tasks based on your location. So, if u are home the GPS will tell tasker to turn on your WiFi. When u leave the area it will turn off. U can task your sister's, parents, work, wherever as well.
Another cool feature is it senses speed, like when you're driving, so it can turn on Bluetooth to sync music automatically as well.
It's a limitless app really. Don't need it so much myself though.
