Screen differences?
Anyone know how to check the make/model # on the screen? I have 4 LTEs for my family, and when I compare them side by side, there are some pretty glaring differences in the screens. I remember the OG EVO had 2 or 3 different screens at launch

Re: Screen differences?
My screen had a very very noticeable yellow hue on whites. People told me that this is due to the adhesive they use on the screens, that it happens on a lot of LCD phones, and that it goes away in time as it dries. It was a pretty significant difference between my Evo's white and the white of any other screen I own. To be honest, I cannot tell for the life of me if it's still got that hue or if I've just gotten used to it by now :/

Re: Screen differences?
For the hardware version of your phone, go to Settings/About, the version is the first thing listed.
In threads devoted to oversaturated screens, there was some belief that it was related to hardware revision 0003. I'd be interested what versions your phones are. - 06-19-2012, 03:22 PM

Re: Screen differences?
I got one preordered from Best Buy, and the screen was perfect. Had some other issues with the phone, like audio screeching through my car radio. So I returned it this week. The new one I got, the screen looks kind of washed out. The blacks are not very black. Blacks look more gray on this one, like the backlight is too bright. No matter what you do to the brightness slider, it has the same ratio of washed out color. My first one seemed a lot richer in color. Is this the same thing you're seeing on your fleet of evos? I'm either going to ask for my old one back, or try a different one. Is there anything distinguishing your 'good' evos, from the 'not so good' ones your family has- like hardware version, or something else? I want to make sure I get the next one right.

I haven't seen or heard of any hardware versions other than 003. I'm color defitiant, so i can't really speak to colors being washed out. All the screens look good, but you can see major differnlences when they're side by side.

Re: Screen differences?
Can you describe the differences? Just went to a Sprint store and compared my phone to two others. One looked about the same, and the other had lighter blacks than my new one(and I thought my new one was washed out...). On the one with lighter blacks, the display slider bar was blue, as opposed to the green on both mine and the other display model.

Re: Screen differences?
My boss had ordered his phone from Sprint a week after it launched. I bought mine from the Sprint store in my local area.
When setting our phones next to each other, there is a glaring difference between the two. His phone has whiter whites, and blacker blacks, where as my screen had dull colors comparably.
More importantly, I'm also experiencing flickering screen brightness when the phone has darker color tones on it, on everything from the loading screen on the Play Store, to the gamefly website, to lower-light pictures. Sprint has already replaced the phone, and after a few weeks, it has started doing it again.
This is by far more annoying than dealing with duller colors.Kyocera Koi<Samsung Instinct<Helio Ocean<HTC Touch Pro<Helio Ocean 2<Palm Pre<HTC EVO 4G<HTC EVO 3D<HTC EVO 4G LTE<HTC One - 06-22-2012, 06:47 AM #12

Re: Screen differences?
I just got mine yesterday and spent the day admiring the beautiful screen. I couldn't believe how much better it was than the horrible yellow screen I had with the Galaxy Nexus. Now today (without having read about any such issues with the display) I actually feel that the whites have gotten yellower. Has anyone experienced this?
