Re: WiFi Issues
All things being nominal, wifi should just "work." I strongly encourage you to return and exchange the phone. I returned mine for problems pretty much the same as you describe. The replacement phone had no wifi problems, same routers, settings etc. Definitely a problem with the first phone.
Hope you get it resolved; I think the device is totally worth the effort.

Re: WiFi Issues
After a day or two of trying forum suggestions (2.4ghz only, cdma only, nfc off, forgetting/re-adding the wifi network).. the problem went away, i don't know when or for which setting exactly, just at one point i noticed 'oh hey, the drops are gone'..
6/29 Update: scratch that, 2 wifi routers I use just want to disconnect/reconnect often. 1 wifi router seems fine (a belkin). guess i'll be connecting to the belkin until an ota comes out.Last edited by stanlm; 06-29-2012 at 09:49 AM. Reason: new info

Re: WiFi Issues
According to a Sprint rep in one of the EVO 4G LTE forum discussions:
Again, in my case it seemed like a hardware issue in that the original phone had a problem much like the one described above, and the replacement phone works fine in same locations, same settings.Sprint and HTC are currently testing an update to fix the WiFi disconnect/reconnect/looping that some people are experiencing. It is related to specific routers and connection settings and how the phone operates and connects to these wireless routers. The update will correct an issue that causes the phone to disconnect from the WiFi access point. There currently is no ETA for the update, but it will be included in the next update released for this phone. It is not a hardware issue, it is a software issue.
Certainly possible there's a software solution to a hardware... inconsistency. Or something.
So there's no time frame for release yet, but there may be hope for a fix.

I recently changed the settings on my wifi manager app 2.4 Ghz channels from essential to extended and I haven't had a wifi signal drop in the past 3 days

My WiFi works fine at home. My WiFi disconects constantly at my girlfriends house but she has a cheap 30 dollar router.
I had issues with her WiFi on my nexus. It would say it was connected but would have no internet so really i see no difference.
I get a stronger signal at home with this phone further away outside.

I am the same. The further away iam from the router when home, the better and stronger my signal is. This was not a problem at all with my evo3d.

Hey all, I just wanted to let everyone know that I finally gave up on trying to figure out the problem with my WiFi. After all of the failed suggestions, I figured it had to be a hardware problem, so I exchanged the phone, and and it fixed the issue. I can connect to WiFi without any trouble. Thank you all for your suggestions.

Re: WiFi Issues
I really don't think it is the phone itself. I don't have this problem with any other router other than my home. At the gym, at a friends house, etc. it never drops. I have tried everything and it keeps dropping and coming back. Never happened on my 3D.

Re: WiFi Issues
I have not experienced any problems with Wifi dropping since the update. For those that are still having problems, especially if it's not happening for every router, I would suggest checking to see if your neighbors are using the same Wifi channel as you. If your router doesn't support a 'survey' function to see nearby routers, you could use the free app "Wifi Analyzer."

Yes, I do use that app. It seems that there are other routers in the neighborhood that sometimes share the same channel. The reason I am not sure that is the problem with the phone is that none of the other devices that I am using with the same router are compromised like the phone is. Let's just say that your reasoning is correct. If I am using channel 10 and then 2 or 3 other people hop on to channel 10,would I see my wifi connect and disconnect?

This is what happens to mine. It will be connected to wifi, then it will drop off and I will see my 3G logo for a few seconds then it will hop back on to wifi again. It does this quite a bit. Is this the same thing that others with wifi issues are experiencing? It never shuts me out where I can't connect at all, it's just these drop outs that are so annoying.

When I am on 5GHz it never drops out at all. The signal isn't as strong but it never disconnects. Leads me to believe that if it was a hardware issue, it would disconnect also on this setting, correct?
