Chrome, a battery drainer?
While I was at work, I took a look at my battery usage and noticed that Chrome’s usage was around 25%. This seemed higher than it should have been, especially because I didn’t use the app once since I unplugged the phone that morning. I keep noticing this over the next few days, and I realized this was not going way.
I uninstalled the app to see if I noticed any difference in battery life. I did in fact see a huge difference in my battery life. I am getting about 5 more hours of life. The phone seems to better hold charge while on standby.
It looks like Chrome was running in the background, even when it wasn’t in use. Has anyone else noticed this?
Are there other browsers that aren’t always running in the background? - 06-26-2012, 09:10 AM #2

Re: Chrome, a battery drainer?
Hmmm Chrome isn't a battery drainer on my Galaxy Nexus. It's usually at about 2% on my battery.

Re: Chrome, a battery drainer?
Is it a bug in the battery usage? At least I hope it is. My chrome says it's using 41% of the battery but I'm only down to 83% battery over 11 hours. It seems if it was draining the battery, it would decrease more in that time. I guess I will uninstall it and see what happens. After I do, I'll check back here and give an update.

Boat Browser was my choice pre-ICS. I haven't had any battery drain issues from Chrome... shrug.
