Notification setting

I've downloaded a notification sound for text messages, it's not working when i get a text. If i go into settings & select that sound i hear it, however when i get a message all i get is a vibration. I do have the volume turned up. Why is the notifiction not working? I know it's downloaded.

Check your sound settings (Settings>Sounds) and make sure your sound profile is set to Normal. Also, go into Volumes and make sure your Ringtone & Notification slider bar is set appropriately. If those look good then the only other thing it can be is the audio file itself. You can try to recreate it or redownload it again. There is an app in the market called Ringdroid that you can use to create any kind of sound file. When you save it you can select the option to save it as a notification sound file, and it will then appear in the menu for selecting your notification sounds.
