    Default Talk/Speak function

Does this phone come with Siri type function? I noticed my wife's Android Samsung phone has something where she can ask it a question or to pull up an app. The only think I notice on this phone is to speak for text. Thanks

Google has its own built-in (available on Android since at least Android 2.2), which was previously accessible by holding the dedicated "Search" button on the phone. The available commands are:
    • send text to [contact] [message]
    • listen to [artist/song/album]
    • call [business]
    • call [contact]
    • send email to [contact] [message]
    • go to [website]
    • note to self [note]
    • navigate to [location/business name]
    • directions to [location/business name]
    • map of [location]

Since there is no longer a dedicated "Search" button, and HTC/Google has decided to hide the voice search app icon, you'll have to use one of the following workarounds:

    • Add the "Google Search" widget to one of your home screens
The widget size is 4x1, so make sure you have space somewhere on one of your home screens. There's a microphone icon on the right side of the widget that will bring up Google Voice search.
    • Install to create a separate shortcut on the home screen
Open the QuickShortcutMaker, and under Activities, search for "voice search" and you should see a bunch of Voice Search results. Choose the one with the small text that ends with "RecognitionActivity" and add it to your home screen (and/or use it as one of your quick launch icons).
    • Install the app
This app appears to have been removed from the Play Store, so I guess it no longer works.

If your wife has the Galaxy S3, then she has S-Voice, which is supposed to be Samsung's answer to Siri. It's not available to us. However, if you want something more "conversation-like," there are many voice assistant apps available in the Play Store, here are just a few:

To add on to the first reply, whenever we get the Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) upgrade, it will have access to Google Now which is pretty similar in terms of features to Siri.

Thanks for the helpful information. She has the Blaze from T-Mobile. When this phone gets the Jelly bean upgrade it will automatically have the function you mention?

Yep, it's a key part of Jelly Bean so it should come automatically with the update. Here's some of the stuff it can do right now, with a look at some future functionality.

You can also try Skyvi from Play store. Similar to other speech recognition programs.
