Re: 3 weeks
Swapped out three phones already... Multitasking issues, no connectivity very often, no lte, no 3g for 2 days now, major screen flickering, very poor reception, won't send or receive texts, google wallet won't work, sense crashes, not receiving emails, wifi has issues, battery dies within 4 to 6 hours, the screen is starting to dim out, GPS takes forever to locate, etc.
I brought the phone into Sprint and they said they will send it in to get repaired. I don't want a repaired phone, I want a new one. This is the third phone in 35 days from Bestbuy, and they even said no more phone swaps. I am screwed with a dud.
Sprint said they would wave the early termination fee and allow me to migrate to AT&T. I just won't get refunded on the phone and I'm stuck with it.
Now what phone do I pick on AT&T. I'm staying away from HTC. I did love them, but this phone is making me stay away. I just wish sprint and HTC worked together better at building a better product and service.
I might try out the gs3, but I am sure I won't like it. The bluish tinted screen makes me sicksick. IPhone, forget it... Although Apple does have a good return policy, and if you do have an issue down the road, they just give you a new phone, but it is tiny and boring.
I just wish I would have gotten a good Evo and sprint service was better. I am very bummed. - 07-07-2012, 02:54 AM #6

@Ry: I'm sorry you had a bad experience. You would think there would be a good one out of three. Your Best Buy must have gotten a bad batch of phones. Good luck on AT&T.
@OP: I think you'll find the vast majority of us are happy with our EVOs. There are few quirks here and there if you read through the threads, but overall it's a great phone.

Re: 3 weeks
You can list off all the things you can find issue with, but in general, it's a great phone. I love it, and almost everything about it works wonderfully. I don't have the dropping wifi issue, and I have this phone automatically pick up about 4 different wifi networks throughout the day. Sometimes I have to turn wifi on/off just to get it to find the right signal...is that the 'issue"? I'm used to many wifi devices doing things like that.
Battery life is phenomenal for me. I think you'll like the phone a lot if you get it. Like I said, I could list "all" my complaints, but it'll just make it sound worse than it is. Nothing is ever "perfect" but it's the whole package you have to look at.Thanked by: - 07-07-2012, 09:11 PM #11
Im thinking Rydog may have stepped on a crack, broke a mirror and walked under a ladder on his way to best buy to get his phone, if the OP stays away from these things on the way to get his phone he should be fine!
, I have not had any problems, and I have not put this thing down for three weeks trying to find out what it can't do!, haven't found it yet!

Re: 3 weeks
Haha, I went to 3 different best buys and they all had their glitches. But, with all these issues, I hate to admit it, this is still the best phone out there.
I went to AT&T to look at the gs3 and did not like it at all. The bluish tinted screen was awful, home button felt loose and will fill with dirt and dust fast, let alone fill up with bacteria. How's your bacteria button? :-)
The gs3 really looks like a kids toy and I can't do it.
IPhone...Forget it. Too tiny and old news. I can't go backwards. One x would be great, but no micro Sd card, plus it still has it glitches like the Evo.
I am lost! I can't stay with sprint because the reception is awful and I can't get 3g. I have no signal at my building, while over 500 people have no issue with other carriers where I live.
I love the Evo and despite it's problems, it's still the best phone to me. If it didn't have glitches, and sprint had their network up, then I would be bragging and making sales for them. - 07-07-2012, 11:16 PM #13
I am very happy. I am irritated with the multitasking issues and am getting a replacement for the proximity sensor issue. I hope my replacement doesn't have the numerous problems discussed by the OP.
I would not trade this phone for anything on the market right now. I would love to trade the network though.
As an aside, we are early adopters of a new phone and I have had many more problems with phones I have bought on release dates or pre-orders. Typically the first software update fixes a lot of problems.

Re: 3 weeks
i had this happen numerous times on my OG Evo and had it happen on my Motorola xoom as well as the evo 4g LTE... I use/used Swiftkey on my phones and thumbkeyboard on my xoom....I am not sure what causes it because it has happened on the stock browser, in evernote, chrome browser and messaging. Also it has happened on Gingerbread, ICS and cyanogenmod......
It happened much more frequently on my OG EVO which was both Gingerbread and Cyanogenmod...
A reboot fixes it and it is purely random and may happen everyday for a week and then not for a month. It has happened only once on the EVO 4g LTE.
