Re: LTE in Kansas City
How does the 4G affect battery life? I'm still using a EVO 4G for another week or so, and the battery drain was always so bad that I have never really used the Wimax 4G. I won't be getting the EVO LTE for another week or so.
BTW, I live in Prairie Village, and work in downtown KC, so I have been following this thread. - 07-14-2012, 11:00 PM #27

Re: LTE in Kansas City
I have been seeing some LTE on and off for the last two weeks around the KU Med area where I work. Never long enough for me to run a test or stream to see a difference.
This morning I had solid LTE in Bonner Springs by my house. I pulled over and ran a quick speed test. 13MB down, 10.5 up. I am very happy to see this.
What I wasnt happy about is the signal drops off about a half mile from my house. (damn hill)
So while I will be happy once away from home, I will continue to live off the airave at my house.
There is a new tower going in at the high school that is a verizon install. But they have to let other companies install if they want. Hopefully in a year or so I will be on a real tower. - 07-15-2012, 06:27 PM #33

Re: LTE in Kansas City
Completely unrelated question- but I live in OP, KS, and does anyone else that live in the KC area have issues with the Play Store while using 4G? My phone will not download/update anything while on 4G. My web surfing and pic messaging is extremely awesome, but the Play Store is my issue.
Any insight would be awesome!! Thanks! - 07-18-2012, 08:26 AM #36
Re: LTE in Kansas City
I was at KCI yesterday and couldn't get a 4g single. Has anyone else been out there yet?

Re: LTE in Kansas City
Downtown KC is almost non-existant. I think there may be one site. From Crown Center it shows up once in a while with 1 LTE bar but then goes back to 3G with 5 bars, so the closest site is not LTE.

Re: LTE in Kansas City
I was at work at KU Med yesterday and saw 4G very little. I used my wimax card all day and it rocked as usual. Mostly 3g all day on my phone. I would see it and it would disappear soon after. I had a full bar of signal because I can see the tower less than a block away out my window.
Anyone else notice a change in battery use since the firmware upgrade?
I have no new apps loaded and since my upgrade my battery has been taking a hit by noon. - 07-18-2012, 01:02 PM #39

We had like 4-5 places in the city where you could get WiMAX, so I bet they were starting to get it all up and running before they dumped it. :\
