"Mobile speedtest.net" can be wildly inaccurate do to the fact it simply chooses the closest server based on your physical location not how the data is routed. Often times on 3G this produces a terrible ping since it's being routed through a local server not where the data is being routed. However when you tether your phone to a computer and run the test via the computer speedtest.net chooses a different server. For more accurate results tethering the phone and run the test via a browser on the computer.

If you are going to run a test on your phone try RootMetrics which can run continuous tests and give an average speed.

    RootMetrics.

I got LTE once this week and the next day it was gone and I haven't seen it since. Speeds were so-so. About 8Mbps.
