Phone rooted...but outboard devices won't send/receive

My HTC LTE is now rooted. I turned on the Sprint HotSpot and Tethering as well as the Wi-Fi Tether app.
My Android tablet and my wife's iPad recognize the HTC on their wi-fi screens, have logged onto it with the proper pass words, etc....but-
No data is transferred back and forth. The slave units (tablets) see my phone's wi-fi signal but nothing is being active.

Any suggestions? HELP Please!
