Could google wallet be causing these gmail/play store/maps bugs?

Hey guys - like several of you I have been having a lot of problems with my phone's apps - specifically the gmail app but also the play store and maps app as well.

Gmail is the typical problem - i get notifications but then it's a white screen with just the banner that eventually times out/crashes.

Maps freezes.

The play store opens, but when i go to my apps everything looks ok until i select one at which point it gets the blue "selected" banner, but freezes like that and eventually crashes.

I have tried reboot, clearing cache, removing updates etc - no luck, no long term solution.

I never had this problem before the last OTA and with gmail's last update it went away for a few days but i chiefly started noticing the problem after i set up Google Wallet?

Even though i set it up successfully and have used it - lately it just sits in my notification bar telling me it's initializing which never happens.

Could that be the source of my problem?
this is driving me nuts. I never had any such problems with my Evo 4g

Don't know about other stuff, but my gmail is having same problem...kinda really annoying

Restart your phone it should work if not a factory data reset isbin order I dis it and it worked

thanks for the replies :-) i have definitely tried rebooting.
in fact i am far more reboot-happy with my LTE than i was with the EVO 4g as i'm sure is the case with most of you.

the lte boots in about 6 seconds the evo 4g took about 3 hours

looks like it's factory reset time

yep - i'm pretty sure google wallet is the problem.
i uninstalled it (well - i uninstalled the updates) and haven't had a problem in several days...

I have come to the same conclusion. I have reset the google wallet problem, and it comes back as I activate the app.

No. The update is required - but i'd rather be able to use gmail maps and the playstore than google wallet...

Good call. The apps haven't become unusable, but my phone has locked up a lot since the last updates and I've only been able to find one place that the pay pass reader works. So I'm uninstalling the update too. I'll report if it helps or not.

sorry mate - i don't know.
if i was rooted i would freeze it like i did on my supersonic - but i haven't bothered on rooting the ltevo yet... so i just uninstalled the updates. kind of an annoyance because it nags me to upgrade it...

Well it should hide the app from the play store if you disable it like it did for Mr when I disabled the sprint music plus. What I was wondering do you think you you disable it will it cause other problems

Disabling Google Wallet shouldn't cause any issues apart from obviously not being able to use it. I've been having the Gmail freeze up every now and then over the past few days but I don't see why Google wallet would interact with it badly. The two apps don't really communicate with each other in any way.

You don't have to uninstall updates, just go in the wallet settings and reset the app. Problem only occurs when google wallet is running, so I reset the app, things get normal again.

Really frustrated over this issue as well. I use Google Wallet a few times a week but my Gmail is more important. I'm getting more blank screens now, almost daily, and once that happens, my other apps freeze. I can't even get to tasks, settings, etc.

Any other suggestions instead of rebooting every day? I'm having to rely more and more on my Nexus 7 to get my Gmail but that's not always convenient when I'm traveling.

Anyone who is have these issues with these apps ever notice that there phone does abnormal resets?

Had my phone do one of these last night and after it happened I had problems with Gmail and people apps.

Update 8/31

Well, a few days ago I decided to try again with Google wallet. For a few days it worked fine but today, back to FUBAR.

It gets stuck initializing and when that happens there's no fix that I can find other than going into settings and manually clearing the data followed by uninstalling the updates in the play store...

once Wallet gets stuck in this loop, at least for me - nothing works. Gmail, maps, playstore. The play store problem is really frustrating because the app loads up fine and i can do everything right up until the point where i click on one of My Apps at which point it freezes...

this of course means i can't get to google wallet to uninstall it unless i go into app settings and Clear Data first.

Really annoying. I am 100% done with Google Wallet - it is obviously WAY too entwined into other applications on the phone for its utility to be worth the headache associated with it.

Sorry to hear this, I use Google wallet everyday and never experience any of your issues. That definitely is a bummer that this is happening to you. Maybe you have a bad nfc radio? Is that possible? I don't know but I wonder. Good luck

I don't have any problems here either but the latest update I do believe said was to fix a problem with GW so I would see if u have problems after the update

I have the play store issue but none of the other problems mentioned by the op. To fix the play store I reset the phone and then it's good for a couple days. I have wallet enabled but never used it. I don't have an issue with maps freezing.
