Phone beeping while on a call

My wife recently got a white htc evo lte
and every time I or anyone calls her there's a beep like she's dailing when we talk but she can't hear it only the other person on the line can

She says it happens when she gets any notifications (email, Facebook, and text)

Is that a setting?

I think this is a Sprint, or some other network issue. For me, it sounds like someone accidently hits a number while in call, which is nearly impossible to do anymore. I've had that happen now on my last 3 phones I've had. I would say that unless she gets a notification every 4 or 5 seconds, don't worry about it. I haven't found a fix, but then again, I'm not annoyed enough by it yet.

It is normal and default to hear beeping when there are notifications when on a call. But only SHE should be able to hear it. Does she use a headset? Did she install any apps right before it started happening?

Standard solution for most unusual situations: Turn off fastboot and reboot the phone. No change? Factory reset.
