SMS Issues
Anyone else having texting problems? I initially thought it was because I was using GO SMS, but even with the stock messenger I have the problem where I hit send, it gives me a little sending icon but never sends. Just keeps saying sending.

Having the problem is an understatement I'm not sure if it's the phone or a Sprint issue though with the crazy texting. Back in the day I had a problem with Sprint sending duplicate texts which while annoying would be fine, in this case though it was sending them a day later.. It actually caused me to lose a girl I was talking to because the message I sent her the night before came to her again and she thought I was talking to someone else the next night.. Done..
Sorry to hijack but back to your issue. I have been having issues as well using GOSMS, Handcent, and stock all have the same hang up. I thought at least with GOSMS it was because I was replying from the pop up but it didn't matter I saw, also I'm seeing that when I text sometimes it never gets sent, and I don't mean it's hung up trying to send the message just disappears like I never typed it. One other strange thing too with texting, my girl got a text from me one night except I didn't send it. My phone was super hot when I picked it up, then it rebooted. After all that my girl gets a text from me. I tell her I didn't send her anything and show her my phone, the thing was it showed that I had sent it and it sound like a typical text I send her at lunch time except this was 10pm and she was standing in front of me. That was another argument..

Re: SMS Issues
Fortunately, I've had no love lost.. yet. But it certainly is aggravating. Come to think of it, I did have a similar issue with my EVO Shift. It would send a text when i wanted it to and then resend it hours or even days later. Nearly got in trouble with my boss for it.

Does anyone experience receiving texts late when using lots of data services. For example when I am heavy browsing the Internet, downloading and browsing apps, or streaming I start to receive texts late. I end up texting the person "..." to let them know I am waiting on a reply and they text me something like "I replied already" and I end up receiving that text and the one that I never got and was waiting for at the same time.

Re: SMS Issues
I haven't experienced that. I may not be using data as heavily as you though.

Heavy data usage should not affect text messages - text messages do not come or go via data services.

Re: SMS Issues
I've had this problem since day one. I figure it's related to a combination multitasking issue and slow network where the messaging app is being suspended before the text finishes sending.
If I send the message and keep the screen on in whatever app (Handcent, stock, GoSMS), the message seems to go fine after 5 or so seconds. But if I hit send and either turn off the screen or immediately switch to another app, the message fails to be sent pretty much every time.
I'm fairly certain it's not a network issue alone because any app will eventually fail a send if it takes too long and give a notification for it. But in this case, going back in the app shows that the app is stuck in a sending loop.
I've learned to deal with it for the time being hoping there is a fix on the way. But not many people complain about it so there may be another underlying issue. For now I just watch to make sure each text goes through. Can be pretty tedious at times but I don't know how else to assure most messages get sent. - 08-16-2012, 08:03 PM

Re: SMS Issues
Even if I keep the app open in the foreground it will stay in the sending loop. I'll eventually have to long press to copy the message, long press again to delete and then paste and attempt to resend.

Just tried the "turn the screen off immediately after hitting send" and was able to have it delay sending the message until the screen was turned back on 2 out of 2 times.

Re: SMS Issues
I've had that problem on and off since I've been with sprint. My pre did that all the time, and when I would reboot it, it would go through. Sometimes the ones that were pending sent, sometimes it would duplicate. I've recently had that trouble in the last few weeks. Its not the phones fault, its Sprint. I wish Sprint would get it together because sometimes there are important things that need to get through and never do.
