My friend just bought an evo 4G hardware version 4 and software 2.3.3 and we tried to use unrevoked to root it but it said the software version was to new. Can anybody give us some insight into rooting it, preferably a one click method. He wants wireless tether only and won't do much else other than talk and text.

Thanks in advance

Download the drivers needed here Required Drivers

Visit Revolutionary and download for your operating system. Notice its only on Linux and Windows so if you have a Mac you will not be able to root his phone.

After you start the download, a blue box for the beta key will pop up. Put in the information needed and copy your beta key. Now right that down or paste it to say like notepad.

Extra the content that you downloaded. Double click on the revolutionary tool file. That will open a command prompt with the script ready to go. Plug your phone into the usb and set to charge only. Once it finds your device it will ask for your beta key. Open up your note pad and enter your beta key. *This is Cap Sensitive* It will now run the script, give you s-off and flash clockworkmod.

Now to get root access. Download SuperUser Here

Boot into recovery (volume down and power button at the same time after phone is turned off. Make sure fastboot is unchecked under menu>applications)

Install zip from sd card and reboot.

You now are fully rooted with s-off
