Swapping phone# do i need to unroot

I am giving my son my evo4g. Do i need to unroot to swap his sprint number to the 4g? I took it to sprint and they did the ## entry. But msl menu stuff never came up. What are we doing wrong? I am. Running mikg and i rooted with unrevoked.

Just go to stock rom. Don't have to unroot but I always use the stock rom. I also have used Fresh rom..

When you say "stock" do you mean the RUU?? I put in the odexed one by xxhausx and it didn't work. Would the sprintlovers rom work?
