    Default Linux for android

Hello, Not only am I new to Android, I am also new to rooting. A friend told me about rooting my Android and running a Linux os on it. Can this be done, and if so, what flavor of Linux is recommended?

Also, if not using Linux, how do I decide what root to go with?

Thanx to anyone that can help me into the right direction

Yes you can put ubuntu linux on most android phones including the evo using the chroot method.
