Default unrooted, s-on, stock rom, but can't update to 4.53.651.1

I have unrooted my phone, I have s-on and running a stock rom but I still have root privileges and everything else like I'm still rooted. Clockwork mod is still running, able to quick boot into recovery, flash roms, and still have superuser in my app drawer.

I'm on 4.24 and wanting to update to 4.53.651.1 but I keep getting orange triangle with ! in it. Seems like my phone is still rooted and because of that won't let me update. Wasn't able to find a way to uninstall superuser through root explorer file manager either.

This is odd, if your running a stock ROM even if your rooted you should be prompted to download the official OTA. What method did you use to unroot and obtain S-ON?

I already have the OTA and chose to install later. But when I try to install it gets about 1/4 through the update bar and the orange triangle w/ ! in it comes on.

I used the revolutionary method from to unroot.

It sounds to me like you need to run the RUU and have it return everything back to stock. Then use the Revolutionary S-ON tool. After that you should be good to go.

Are you speaking of this And if so, how is that any different from a more updated RUU? And won't my apps and game data be erased.

I was talking about an RUU in general, never even heard of that site. Any RUU for the EVO should be fine though.

Ok, I flashed a stock RUU and I'm stilll having the same problem. Even deleted CWM from sd card. I really don't want to do a factory reset.

When you boot into recovery what do you see?

I don't understand how CWM is still accessible, if the RUU was successful it should have over written the custom recovery. Can you still use CWM to make backups and flash stuff with?

If I'm not mistaken, that's the update you've been waiting on.

I'm at a loss man, the only thing I can think of would be running the RUU again, I don't understand why it isn't deleting CWM. We might need to get someone with a bit more knowledge than myself in here...this has got me baffled.

Is there any update on this? I'm having the EXACT same problem.

I was previously rooted with unrevoked, but I unrooted so I can obtain the latest htc updates without having to jump though hoops...

Trying to update to htc software ver. 3.70, and eventually to 4.(whatever the hell it is).

    Please help!
