Okay, I desperately want to root... but have a problem. My computer is a Mac Powerbook running 10.4 Tiger OS. All the rooting methods I've seen require Snow Leopard OS or higher.

Any idea if this would work if I tried this on a public computer (like a library or coffee shop's)? I'm leery of the idea because I don't want to upload malware/spyware to my phone that might be on a public computer.

If I do use someone else's computer for the root, can I still flash new ROMs/get new kernels, etc... using my powerbook? Or would I need to still have a newer computer?

I think I want CyanogenMod 7.1. However, how do I tell what features it comes with? I don't see a listing of ROMS that include all their features. I want bluetooth keyboard and mouse, HDMI out, 4g Wimax, tethering, removal of bloatware like Carrier IQ, Sprint NFL, logging software, etc. I would still like to have Google Maps or Sprint Navigation.

Finally, I'm running Froyo 2.2. I never upgraded to 2.3 because I have FullHDMI app for unrooted phones and it won't run on unrooted 2.3. Is it worth my while to upgrade to 2.3, or should I root at 2.2? What benefits would i have to upgrade to 2.3 if I'm planning on going to a different ROM?

I know some of these questions are answered elsewhere... and i humbly apologize. However, if you ask questions on old threads, you get ed out for dredging up old threads. It's a no-win scenario.

I thank you in advance (and will also click on the "thank you" tick when you respond) for your kind assistance.

Sincerely,
Braaainz

ooooooook if u dont want me to root ur phone you have no reason to comment then

Back in may I let someone take control of my pc and root my lg optimus s and it went fine. I think the guy is offering a cool service. Plus if you need to take control back you can at any time. But the other guy is also right, a little reading goes a long way. It's not hard to root via revolutionary. I only hope my next device is as simple

I just used his services and it was incredible. He spent about 1.5 hours with me, did everything except push the buttons on my phone. I can't believe that someone is offering this for free. I now have Root, SetCPU, free tethering, and went as far as backing up my phone after root so I can flash to a recovery in case I mess up on my own !

He even installed a new kernel on my phone to allow SetCPU to work AND showed me how to use Titanium Backup to delete all those stupid sprint applications. Im now up to 90mb free space (most in a long time), phone runs faster, and free tethering.

Awesome! Thanks a ton man!

Do you root the Samsung Galaxy S II? I have a buddy of mine that wants to root but I'm not familiar with S2. I root my Evo no problem.
