Root Question (simple I think)

I posted this at XDA but:

If I just flash to enable root, will this at least give me the ability to run root apps, like wireless tether, etc?

I think I'll stick to that as my first step if so, and ease my way into recovery stuff (or should I just flash the recovery just for the hell of it?)

Thanks,

Dap

If all you want to do is run rooted apps, unrevoked is the simplest way to do this. If you want to be able to install custom roms, or do anything more - follow the xda tutorial. It's more time-consuming than it is hard, and you won't have to do it again.

ROOT is like a drug. just do it all now cause you'll be addicted once you start.

but to answer your question -- yes. you just need root to run wireless tether and most root apps.
