Re: [How To] Unroot and return to stock [RUU Method]
I would appreciate any help that can be provided here. I have a rooted Evo 4G (done via the complex way, not the 1 or 2 step way) have been running the same custom ROM for almost 2 years, but am now getting ready to upgrade to an Evo 4G LTE.
I tried to follow the instructions in this post (10 times now), but every time it gets to the black screen with HTC on it, I get the "usb connection" error message. I did download HTC Sense, but it currently does not recognize my Evo.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. - 06-18-2012, 11:27 AM #479

Re: [How To] Unroot and return to stock [RUU Method]
Maybe I'm missing something too, but I cannot seem to get this to work either. Is there a file I'm missing? somewhere the newest ROM is located now? Help?
I am way over 50 times with error [155}: unknown error
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
ARG - So, Once rooted one cannot un-root it seems wonderful. Therefore no bluetooth or OTA updates - Hey thanks everyone!Last edited by jrmstl; 06-21-2012 at 02:52 PM.

Re: [How To] Unroot and return to stock [RUU Method]
Is there a "true" step by step instruction somewhere to help me root my Evo 2.3.5 4.67.651. Everything I've found just takes me in circles. Is there instructions that assume I don't know ANTHING about rooting? HELP!

Re: [How To] Unroot and return to stock [RUU Method]
Worked like a charm. I even did it using VMware and this process gave me no issues. Thanks!

Re: [How To] Unroot and return to stock [RUU Method]
Running a RUU is very easy. If you are s-off you can run any RUU foe that device. If your s-on you will need to run the version equal to or newer firmware version , you can not go backwards. also if you have a unlocked bootloader you must relock before you RUU
