Is there a "true" step by step instruction somewhere to help me root my Evo 2.3.5 4.67.651. Everything I've found just takes me in circles. Is there instructions that assume I don't know ANTHING about rooting? HELP!

Doesn't work.

Just says that it is the wrong RUU and to get the right one. Tried a few. Not sure how I'm supposed to know which is the "right" one.

Running a RUU is very easy. If you are s-off you can run any RUU foe that device. If your s-on you will need to run the version equal to or newer firmware version , you can not go backwards. also if you have a unlocked bootloader you must relock before you RUU

I used the process yesterday to get the stock ROM back on my EVO 4G so I could get it working with ting. I could not get it to work with windows 8.1. I kept getting "usb connection" error message. When I used a windows 7 it worked the first try.

I made the mistake of rooting my Evo Design 4G with CWM and I can't un root it. It looks like when I flashed the 1.10.653.2 by adding it as PH44IMG.zip to the SD root that CWM is gone. The phone doesn't boot into CWM now it goes to HBoot. It is still rooted and the current rom isn't running well as far as my 3g settings. It acts weird now and I just want to go back to stock. Before the root, I could sync with HTC sync on the PC and now it won't sync at all. The PC sees the phone as a portable media player and I can open the SD card. I have tried the above method using RUU_Kingdom_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_Boost_1.10.653.2_Radio_1.11.00.0418_2_NV_Boost_3.42_0418_PRL61007_release_262178_signed. My phone shows 1.10.653.2 Release keys.
I run this RUU and all goes well and then I get error 140 wrong boot loader and the exit button. Any insight as to what I can do to fix this is appreciated.
Note: now instead of 3G network it shows EvDo and my mobile reception is poor compaired to pre root.
here is the fastboot showver all I got.
