After reading 1000's of pages on Android Central and XDA I am trying to understand the differances between Amons_RA recovery and Clockwork recovery.

I am fully rooted and am running Fresh 0.5.3 ROM with Aloysius laid over the top for the colors and themes (love it). All is working good and I really have ZERO issues.

What brings this question up is, in the Fresh ROM, flipz's has his own updater. Flipz's says if you are having problems with the updater use the Amon recovery instead of Clockwork recovery because "It has also been reported that Clockwork Recovery is not wiping sd:ext properly".

Also I have read that Clockwork Recovery is a "Fake Recovery" I can't find an explanation for a "Fake Recovery"

If I run Amons recovery I can't run ROM Manager because it uses Clockwork recovery. I love ROM Manager it's very easy to use.

TO get to the "root" of the question...How do I get Amons recovery installed? I have tried everything I can find and with clockwork recovery I cant get Amons recovery to flash. I freey admit to being a n00b. I am asking this question here in Android Central because the guys at XDA can be...shall I say....rude to us new guys.

pages it just goes to show what an ***** I truely am with all this. I was re-reading flipz website and in the comment section under his Fresh 0.5.3 page one of the post tells you how to get to Amons recovery. It's RIGHT THERE IN ROM MANAGER under alternate recovery. It's the exact AMON_RA recovery Ive been trying to get flashed all morning.....LOLOLOLOL.. All you have to do is select "alternate recovery" and it flashes right in. SSOOOO cool what I learn everyday with this stuff. And what I miss although I've read it. OK now if someone can explain to me the rest of my question...Whats the differance between the two recoveries?

Go here grab the recovery.img-

Then follow the commands on pc type
adb shell
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-evo-v1.7.0.1.img
reboot recovery
That should do it.

Good find! I was wondering how to do that myself! I'm using the previous fresh Rom but I'm reluctant to change since my last two battery cycles have been over 24 hours.... last one hitting 30hrs!

The new fresh looks pretty cool though!

I was wondering was good about the Fresh ROM? it looks good.
I wanted to know from someone that is running the rom in the EVO.

I also would want to know about the different between the AMON and Clockwork?

I notice the set up is different and the AMON is base of CYanogen recovery.
