How likely is an HTC EVO 4G to become "bricked" after attempting to root?
Hello community! I'm brand new to the Android scene and I've gotta say, I'm quite impressed so far.
I'm very interested in the idea of rooting my phone and the perks it brings, but I have read a couple articles that make it sound as if your phone being bricked is a fairly common outcome. I have a few questions regarding such.
When a phone becomes bricked after attempting to root, is it due to the innability to follow instructions by the user? Maybe certain conflicting software on the phone? Or is it just by chance and it only happens to unlucky people?(if that's the case, I won't attempt this because of how generally unlucky I am)
Thank you for your time and answers. - 01-11-2013, 12:57 PM #2

What hboot are you on? Unlocking the bootloader isnt very hard at all installing a custom recovery isnt hard and flashing a custom will be rooted so its pretty simple really

He seems to just be asking a general question, not necessarily pertaining to himself. And yes, but it's only a soft brick, you can only hard brick an HTC if you S-OFF the device and then make a fatal error or the process of S-OFF is interrupted.

I had to google how to find this (being a complete newbie to the scene and all)
Hboot - 1.57.0000
How do I go about doing those things? Every guide I've found is outdated by at least a year and has multiple comments by users saying not to use that specific way because of some obscure reason. - 01-12-2013, 10:25 PM #7
