Not being a lazy noob just need to be pointed this way or that.

    The details:

    Have EVO 4G.
    Don't want to simpleroot.
    Don't mind reading up.
Need to be able to keep using "Got To Do" app and want to hotspot for my iPad.
Want to get to Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo.
Did OTA update to 2.2 (but not the latest one)
    So phone info now is:

    Android version 2.2
    Baseband version 2.15.00.07.08
    Kernel version 2.6.32.15-g74614f0
    Build number 3.26.651.6 CL218634 release-keys
    Software number 3.26.651.6
    PRI Version 1.40_003
    PRL Version 60669

(Don't know how much of that was necessary but it's there)

So, what do I need to read first.
Files to have at the ready.
Install with instructions at _________ location.

Any help to me me up and running will be great.
Again, assume I know nothing because that's the case (for this - not generally

Not afraid to read and try - just don't want to waste time with stuff that's actually not helpful or counter productive.

    TIA.

I followed the sticky and the linked YouTube walkthrough.

Rooted. Flashed the stock rom, Nandroid backup. Flashed Myn.

Works like a charm. I'm a happy Panda.

You can grab them at XDA:

[GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G - xda-developers

If I may suggest that once you get to a 2.1 stock installation on your phone that you don't use unrevoked but instead go ahead and root the 2.1 installation and then unlock Nand following this guide:

    The easiest 1.47.651.1 root+nand unlock you'll ever see without a gui (Updated) - xda-developers

To me, that is the perfect solution. I don't have anything against unrevoked I just see a lot of folks posting with problems here or there after they need to make changes.

OK, thefredelement - here's my plan - to follow the Youtube vid on getting to 2.1 stock

    this one:

This should work fine right? (I know LiquidJesus has his written out - and maybe I could follow it fine - but if this one looks OK to you I'll do it as totally not knowing what I'm doing - but, being good and being a parrot - I know I can do what I see done...)

But, once I'm back to 2.1 - he uses unrevoked to go to 2.2... which you advise me not to do... which I think is a good idea... what I don't know is how to root 2.1... is there a written guide for that (I figure its a lot like doing 2.2 but again, not knowing what I'm doing I want to ask first...

Then, once I've rooted 2.1 you're saying I should follow this from start to finish:

    The easiest 1.47.651.1 root+nand unlock you'll ever see without a gui (Updated) - xda-developers

If so, I'm guessing I should do the steps in the first Youtube video with the phone USBed to my computer and go to the cmd prompt and then type the instructions listed on the root+nand unlock guide.
