If this is in the wrong forum I apologize. I have a few statements and some questions.

I had the epic and didn't like it so i switched to the evo with my wife and she took it back and got a new evo since my epic was under the warranty still.

I love the evo but it seems slower than the epic. I rooted it from unrevoked and i see some ppl go back to 2.1; maybe its faster not sure. i do know that pda net wont work for me so im using easy tether now.

any suggestions? should i unroot it and go to 2.1?

As long as you haven't had any problems after the root then you don't need to go back. What rom are you using? I have found that if you like sense then you should try Myn's or a Baked rom. If you don't mind having a Sense rom then I would try Vaelpak.

OH GOD.

You have a lot of reading to do.

Use WiFi tether, not pda crap
Use a custom Rom/kernel

I guarantee this phone isn't slow.

That's all great news that it isn't slow. I'm in a 3g area and my epic was faster but im not switching back i like the evo much much more.

Not sure about my rom; i only know im using a .exe from unrevoked.com

I thought i did state that i can't use pda "crap" if i can't use it then how would i be using it? I am using easytether; but currently looking for a workaround for accessing https url's cause i take online classes.

This is a rom - http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-roms-hacks/26247-rom-ac-rom-froyo-2-2-a.html

Read anything you can from this - HTC Supersonic: EVO 4G - xda-developers

No need to get cranky, like i said, use wifi tether - http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-roms-hacks/16101-free-wireless-tethering.html

Thanks man; kinda busy at my school for the army now i'll be lacking on my droid skills :)
Sorry if i came off wrong. With easytether i saw something in the settings to put a code in to get full access to https sites. But I am not going to buy the license. i am tethered so who knows when the dl will finish for the rom you supplied in the link. i wanna get rid of sprints crap so it'll be a plus for me. i think i can follow the set of instructions but we'll see. thanks again

Easy tether is like PDA Net where after the trial ends you lose access to going to https sites. You then have to buy the full program and by entering the code in the application you can then open up port 443 for https sites.

Well seems like the rom is too large for me to download tethered. So i'll wait til i get to a dsl or cable connection to figure that part out; guess i'll just stop worrying about the speed of the device and try and figure a way to get in https sites for now. thanks guys

Wait man, first of all thanks for your service.
Second of all, use wifi tether it allows everything you would need in a hotspot.

If you can't get the rom to download, either download it on your phone from the browser, or download rom manager from the market and download a rom directly to your phone from it. I recommend fresh, baked snack, or damage control for you.

A PC isn't needed really, but make sure you do a nandroid backup before you flash a new rom, you can do it through rom manager if you don't know how.

If you need clarification on anything just ask, be happy to help.

Seems big but it only takes like 40 mins to download, and it doesnt slow the phone down really.

Sure drop me a PM anytime, and as for the notebook/laptop help, im not the person to ask haha. Im sure a google search will turn up something though.

I got about 3 or 4 from the rom manager and backed up with nandroid. I am currently on one with a guys name. his first and last. I can't recall atm. I am noticing a increase in performance and speed; not sure why. Is there a specific rom you recommend for performance and speed? It was fairly easy to do imho. I wanted the one that said froyo. not sure why but i thought it'd be a good one. when i was choosing one to install i forgot the file name of it and just went with the one with the persons name.
