I'm new to android. I have an EVO from June 4. What an awesome phone!
My question is, I like HTC Sense and most of the phones functions, but would like to get rid of some unused programs, like the calculator and video player, since I got better ones from the market. Is there a way to uninstall these programs with out rooting the phone?

No. You need root with nand unlocked. The apps you are referring to reside in system/app which you have no control over until you are rooted with nand unlocked.
