HTC Evo 4G not playing rtsp, mms or http streams

Hello, my HTC Evo 4G will hardly play any rtsp, mms or http streams. I was using Stream Meadia Player app from PSA-Mobile.com, this app was playing great all rtsp, mms or http streams on my prior Samsung Fascinate. However, nothing works on the Evo 4G. Android Team @ PSA-Mobile.com was helpfull but said there is nothing they can do since the problem seems to be with the phone codecs, unfortunately it looks like HTC Evo have no support for these codecs for WMA codecs. I spoke to the HTC on the phone, hate to say it but they were not very helpfull other than saying the phone DOES have the codecs, but they dont know why any of the streams are not playing. Is anyone else having the same problem? Is there a way to install the required codecs on the Evo 4G, or I will have to go back to Samsung. Here are some of the streams that were playing just fine on the Samsung Fascinate: Bloomberg TV rtsp or mms://media2.bloomberg.com/btv_US200_n.asf, mms://89.212.47.122/TVINFO, etc. Thanks in advance.

I just got my EVO last week. NFL Sunday ticket was having a problem streaming. None of them worked. This was with the phone rooted. My buddies stock EVO worked with it last weekend, so not sure if its just buggy or if it had something to do with my rooted image (running AC2.7 ROM).

no I am not rooted, I am actually new into this so might take me some time to learn how to root it. Do you think that might actually help? If you or anyone else who has an Evo 4G and rooted could test it, I would be thankful. Stream Meadia Player app from PSA-Mobile.com can be downloaded from the Market and you could give it a try. However, nothing played for the tech guy from HTC neither, who tryed it, not sure if his Evo was rooted though. Thanks in advance.

tublecane, are the streams for NFL Sunday ticket same as the ones we talking about here, WMA, mms or rtsp protocol. If thats the case and nothing played than no chance; best bet would be if you could give it a try by downloading the above app and testing the above streams. Thanks, and please keep us posted.

Try turning on WiFi, even if it does not connect to anything, then try to view. I have a security cam at home streaming RTSP and after the 2.2 update I could no longer view it using streaming media player. For some reason just turning on WiFi works for me. I have tried alot of ROMs and have to do this on all by Azrael's, his works for me not having to turn on WiFi. Give it a shot.

Hi Kenster, I have tryed that too but nothing works. Can anyone with a rooted Evo download the Stream Meadia Player app, the free version from the Market and try these streams please: Bloomberg TV rtsp or mms://media2.bloomberg.com/btv_US200_n.asf, mms://89.212.47.122/TVINFO. Please post your results here.Thanks again.

I'll try that app and those streams today and get back to you. Again I tried NFL Sunday ticket this weekend and none of the video streaming worked. It is its own app so I'm not sure what the format of the streams is.
