Check out this forum http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-roms-hacks/ and I also recommend checking out XDA-developers. You'll read more about rooting, roms, hacks, themes and apps than you ever wanted to know

i have windows 7. but pretty much when you download unrevoked 3. use winzip or winrar to extract the files to somewhere you can see them. then click on the hboot.html file and that should show you how to manually install the modified drivers. You have to manually install them because vista doesnt have them.

As thekarens said, head over to the XDA forums. They have TONS of ROMs, themes, and kernels to choose from.

Download the app "wireless tether" from the android market. And not sure about freezing apps, I just deleted them using Root Explorer (also in market).
If you install CyanogenMod, then you don't need the wireless tether app because it is built into the OS. Head over to the Roms/Hacks forum and you will find all the info. you are looking for.Send files between your Android and your PC with Dropbox - Click here - 01-06-2011, 11:37 AM

It was really easy for me. Pretty much, read the instructions and read it again just to make sure.
Full instructions are here. If when you get to the driver screen, you then have to locate the drivers with browser button.
