    Default Best Sense-based ROMs?

    Hey guys,

What do you think are the best Sense-based ROMs for EVO? I'm using Rebirth-ACrom right now and it works well, but the big problem I've had since installing it (build was from Dec 2010 after the release of HTC 3.71) was that it ate up more space (20-30 MB more) than the previous stock ROM without adding much of anything (with the exception of Blockbuster, which was minimal, and that stupid game I removed, which was also minimal). What Sense-based ROMs are better on space issues and battery usage? Or, alternatively, how can I adjust the free space on my EVO so that less free space is reserved (yes, I have already done App2SD on what I could and Titanium to SD for the things I could move without taking a performance hit)?

Sprint Lovers is pretty good (it's the first ROM other than stock that I used).

Personally, I like Calkulin's EViO 2 for a sense ROM.

Thx, trying MikFroyo 4.5 now. Flashing without wiping (guess I didn't wipe correctly) bumped my free space from 92 MB to 215 MB (HUGE difference. I KNEW the ROM must have been defective in some way), but WiFi wasn't working. Now I'm doing the full data wipe to get a clean system and see if that helps.

theres so many variables involved in ROM choosing. all depends on what you look for and for battery life theres different kernels to try. if you like speed and lots of customizations IMHO can do that. if you like something with a high amount of storage space and some customz has 400+ megs after initial boot. if you are not one for all the theming ricsim has its stock looking with a lot of customz.

use facebook for install instructions. with a proper install of a2sd your internall memory should barely move. is an example of how to use it with MIK 4.5. i use it and only lost like 10 megs after loading about 30 apps. (you need a good SD card)

battery life are a popular choice. i use 4.3.2 cfs no sbc havs less. some info on the terminology. keep in mind whenever flashing new roms or kernels its always good to let the phone go thru a couple of full charge cycles in order to see a difference in batt .

...freedom of choice, those are just some of my suggestions on ROMS and kernels. if you or anyone else wants to try a bunch of roms or kernels, this is the most comprehensive out and regularly updated. some are older most are up to date. check first. use at your own discretion!

OK, there has to be a better way of getting some of the apps from the "Removed Apps" folder back onto my phone. I tried to do it with Root Explorer, copying and pasting into /system/app, but they didn't appear. Then, when I rebooted the phone, everything crashed. At least I can get back to the old ROM with my Nandroid backup, but if I'm going to try that again, I need a better way of pushing it.

I recomend Kings Unleashed Ultra R2. The theming is off the charts and they add in some very helpful extras (app-wise).

I've been running Myn's Z for the past week now and it's rock solid. I'm now experimenting with different Kernels so I can rock the OC and get some extra juice from my battery. This ROM is clean and fast and you get all the improvements that Sense 2.0 brings to the table. I recommend it. I've also been eyeballing that Kings Utral R2 ROM. Might grab that one soon and give it a whirl as well.

OK, so here are a few of my reviews:
MikFroyo: throughput issues on WiFi and 4G.
    Kings Ultra Unleashed: HUGE footprint
Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo: fine, until I started restoring from Titanium Backup. Then WiFi would refuse to connect to my network, and 4G wouldn't connect at all. Also, the widgets are all messed up.

So, now I'm trying Calkulin's EViO 2 v. 1.8. Hopefully, this doesn't give me any problems.

EDIT: And it's Calkulin by a landslide! Thanks for all your help.

Agree. I prefer MikFroyo 4.4 - I had some odd quirks with 4.5 but the ROM is awesome.

i saw ACEvo GB - DesireHD Gingerbread Port (2.3.3 & 2.3.2 w/ Sense 2.1) thread too, but turned out it's still buggy.

btw, what's the difference between WarmZ & MikZ if I may ask?

are there any Sense ROMs that support using wiimotes over bluetooth? i tried CM7 RC4 but didn't really like it any more than Sense, plus there's certain HTC apps i need that require the Sense framework.

also, is there an app out there that will automagically restore SMS history using my google account? when i flashed CM7 titanium backup wouldn't restore my SMS history properly (kept getting boot loops). i'd really be awesome to have everything tied back into the google account at some point.

I love VaelPak. It's super customizable, runs ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro like a dream and it's clear of bloatware. Though admittedly, I made mine look just like Gingerbread (then I bit the bullet and went to Deck's GB ROM, then finally CM7)

VaelPak isn't a Sense rom though.

I'm running Warm TwoPointTwo rls5 and have none of the reported problems in this thread. No probs with widgets, wifi connects fine, 4g and HDMI work as they are supposed to and it is good on the battery. I would go for WarmZ, as I really like Myn's theming, but I like my 4G and HDMI mirroring on my TV.
