I'm currently rooted running CM7.0 stable version; I have the SavagedZen kernel installed to underclock/overclock; but I am currently using SPB Shell 3d as my launcher. Is there a better rom or kernel that I should install to run this launcher, or will all of the roms/kernels perform about the same in terms of battery life, speed and other weird quirks.

SPB Shell 3d is a pretty cool looking launcher. I have only used ADW when I am on CM7.0 stable. I briefly tried the SavagedZen kernel, but went to the one linked in the Full HDMI app.

Basically, the more eye candy and fancy transitions, the more battery use. The good news is that SavagedZen looks to be one of the more efficient AOSP kernels out there.

Do you have any problems with the setup of kernel and launcher?

I say if you like it, go with it. The battery life on the EVO isn't all that impressive anyway.
