Hi, my name is Zack i've recently switched from a Palm Pre with webOS to an HTC Evo 4G, i love webOS, but frankly Android is a more built OS. anyways, is there anyway to get Sense 3.0 on the Evo 4G with Android 2.3 ?

    Hi Zack,

I came from the Palm Pre as well and it took a while to get used to Android. While there are more than a few things I still miss about webOS, I think you can enjoy this phone for a while. Who knows you might be an Android convert eventually.

That said, the Evo almost certainly won't get an official port of Sense 3.0, but I am running it on my Evo with the Alliance Rom (see link)

There are a bunch of little tweaks and changes that I like alot, but really the addition of a drop down open programs list make the switch from webOS a little less painful.

You do need to root and flash a rom (Which as another poster commented, may not yet be possible if you have the gingerbread update). Read up on that very carefully. Android isn't as easy to "Homebrew" as webOS, but you can totally change your phone interface if you want to (in this case to Sense 3.0).

The only caveat that I have: Sense 3.0 is actually pretty large and has to be shoehorned into the Evo. If you keep most of your programs on the SD card, you should be ok though.

    Hope this helps.

Also if you are coming from webOS to Android, Milomindbender (who was active on the Precentral boards) put together a nice welcome sheet for webOS users.

Im a recent ship jumper from webOS to Android. Thanks for the help in this thread. I used homebrew on my Pre but this is a whole new ballgame with rooting in Android. I bought a used rooted Evo so i would like to unroot it and start fresh so i can get what i want on it or even leave it stock. i will be coming here a lot for help.

Statements made by HTC about a Sense 3.0 update for the Evo 4G suggest the reason it was not included is the phone don't have enough memory for the increased size requirements of the update.

Having played with Sense 3.0 on the Evo 3D, I don't think you're missing much. It's prettier, sure, but I actually like the more barebones experience of 1.0 on the Evo.
