Has anyone here experienced "phantom presses" on your Evo?
Earlier today I was on the verge of throwing my Evo out the window!! All day it's been going crazy, having these "phantom presses"....basically meaning that it would constantly be changing screens even if I wasn't touching any of the buttons, just by itself. I backed up my phone and did a factory reset, and I think my phone is fine now.
But when I plugged it in to charge it(I have the usb-cord connected to my PC) it started acting up again so I immediately unplugged it. So far so good....so do you guys think something is wrong with my cord? Or what else could be causing this? - 07-21-2011, 01:36 PM #2

My wife had the same problems so she took it back to the sprint store and they tried a hard reset, but that didnt work so they just gave her a new phone. It was real frustrating when i tried to figure out what was wrong and it kept jumping screens.

Re: Has anyone here experienced "phantom presses" on your Evo?
I've experienced this...
Never had it while plugged in, but for me, it's sweat or moisture (say from holding a cold soda can) on the screen.
I just hit the power button to lock the screen, wipe it off, then make sure my hands are clean before I continue. - 07-22-2011, 01:29 PM #7

Wife's evo had same problem without being on the charger. It would write letters on its own.

Hmmm…
I wonder if I might be having the same issue on mine. I can put the phone down with the home screen visible but if I pick it a few minutes later, it’s on the Google search screen.
I would try a factory reset but I just got the phone a week ago and haven’t yet figured out how to create a back-up file for all my apps and contacts. - 07-25-2011, 09:29 AM #10
